It's not that I think stupidity should be punishable by death. I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem take care of itself.
About me: 38 (ish), gay, libertarian. Somewhere. Out there... What the heck is The Daily Slap? E-Mail Me Please note: I love receiving e-mails from anyone, as long as you're not a snotty prick. If you're a snotty prick, feel free to send an e-mail, but plan on being mocked on my site. Thanks! --Rob
I'm going to try to inject another bit of fur into the proceedings here. And I think today's victim is a prime contender for hot furriness. Justin Chatwin has recently been visible (very visible - as you'll see after the jump) in the US version of Shameless. Personally, I think he's been fantastic in it, even though his character isn't always sympathetic.
His other work of note - at least to me - is War of the Worlds, with my favorite actor Tom Cruise. (Old timers here will recognize that as pure sarcasm...).
But we need to finish this on a positive note, so I'm going to go with the fact that I'm very much looking forward to seeing Justin in season 2 of Shameless. And perhaps we'll get to see more of Justin, like we did at least one of his co-stars.
And Alex plays the young Channing. Yeah, that won't be terrible.
Alex also had a role in the sci-fi bust I Am Number Four. And not too long ago he had a great shirtless moment on Ellen, which you can catch after the jump.
Magic Mike looks like it'll be a real Oscar contender. Based on the life story of Channing Tatum, how can it not be? :) Seriously though, there should be firetrucks outside the theaters when it premieres. Because this much hotness on the screen simultaneously will undoubtedly cause spontaneous combustion. It may well be the SLAP-worthiest movie of all time, that's for sure. :)
I think we need a little more fur around here. There have been a lot of smooth twinks on here lately (surprise!), and the lack of chest hair needs to be fixed.
While Penn Badgley has been known to shave (wax?) his chest on more than one occasion, he really has a very nice patch of fur there. Honestly, it's spectacular - see what you think.
Penn appears to be best known for his role in Gossip Girl, but I confess that I've never watched the show. No, really, I'd tell you. It's actually surprising, I guess, that I haven't, given the contingent of hotness in it every week.
Actually, now that I review his resume, I don't think I've ever actually seen Penn on screen in anything. Just his screen caps. And I guess that's OK.
Sorry for my recent neglect of my Slapping duties, but I've been traveling for the last few days, and I didn't get them all lined up in advance. But hopefully today will make up for some of my absence.
Mike Vogel is today's victim. If you've been watching the new series Pan Am you've been seeing Mike as captain Dean Lowery. Mike actually wasn't the first actor chosen to play Dean - that honor actually goes to Jonah Lotan - but I guess ABC wanted a slightly bigger name (or better actor?) to take the role as the rolled it out for a whole season.
I actually wasn't sure I was going to enjoy Pan Am - I'm a big time airplane geek, and I'm a stickler for accuracy in such things - but it's actually pretty entertaining. I can't say they get all of the facts right, and the renderings of aircraft behavior are really distracting to me. But the characters are pretty enjoyable. You should check it out if you haven't.
And actually, next week looks like a good place to start - because Mike will actually have his shirt off for the first time. YAY!
I also remember Mike from Supercross where he looked really cute and scruffy. I haven't really watched much of the other stuff he's been in, but I'm sure he was good in it.
Today's Slap goes out to one of the most beautiful men on the planet. As you can imagine, he's one of my current obsessions.
Matt Bomer is probably best known for his role as the con-turned-fed Neal Caffrey in White Collar on USA. Personally, I'd enjoy White Collar even without Matt - and his incredible body - in the starring role. But he makes a good show great, at least for me. And the producers know what they're up to since they have him take off his shirt pretty regularly.
The really big recent news about Matt, however, is that he'll be playing a role (I'm not sure how big a role...) in the upcoming Magic Mike, the upcoming film based on Channing Tatum's early career as a stripper. I know that we'll see a lot of Matt, based on his interview with MTV, conveniently showing over at Towleroad. And if you haven't heard, the movie will also be starring Channing himself, plus other upcoming Slaps like Alex Pettyfer .
Thom wrote to request today's Slap - thanks for writing, Thom! - and I must say that I'm more than happy to oblige this (and most...) requests. But I confess that British actor Henry Cavill is truly something special and he was well on his way to being Slapped even if he'd never been requested.
I first really noticed Henry as he played Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk in Showtime's version of The Tudors. You'll notice, if you follow the link to the Duke of Suffolk, that there's a portrait of the actual Duke. He looks very little like Henry Cavill. Frankly, I'd much prefer Henry's version of the Duke, to the one on Wikipedia.
Henry has recently raised his profile quite a bit by landing the role of Clark Kent / Superman in the next reboot of the Superman franchise, Man of Steel. A few pictures of him on set have leaked out here and there - and WOW! - he certainly does look super.
He's been in a few other things, but I've never seen him in anything but the Tudors. But that's OK - he looked so fabulous in that, it would be hard to top. Let me know what you think!
P.S. Yes, I'm aware that I have a few duplicate pictures after the jump - but I don't have the time to deal with them right now, and what's a little extra hotness among friends??
Update: Scot is quite right - the #20 picture was definitely Raul Bova (who, by the way, will be getting his own Slap soon...). Thanks!
I didn't really have a solid plan for who to Slap today, but news over the weekend crystallized that lack-of-plan into a golden opportunity. Today's Slap goes out to newly-out (at least publicly) actor Zachary Quinto. There's been a lot of speculation, for quite some time, about Zachary, and as Andy Towle noted he's probably been out by "normal people standards" for quite some time.
But over the weekend Zachary officially (I guess?) came out in an interview with New York Magazine. He followed that up with a moving post on his own blog.
You should remember Zachary from his role as Spock in JJ Abrams' reboot of Star Trek from 2 years ago. And he is of course slated to be in the sequel that's currently anticipated for next year, I believe. And of course if you're a more dedicated sci-fi/fantasy fan, you really enjoyed his work in Heroes as the sociopathic killer Sylar. And he spent a season on one of my current obsessions 24.
Thanks, Zachary, for coming out - your raised public profile will surely help some closeted teenage sci-fi fan come to terms with his own sexuality.
Today's Slap is made pursuant to a conversation I was having with my Slapsistant, Joosee. He and I were chatting yesterday, and I was thinking about who might be my next victim - he suggested that Rafael Nadal was one of my favorites (even if not his...) so I should give him a good hard Smack! with my tennis racquet.
Well, Rafael's ass looks like it could use a good swat. I mean, seriously, have you seen that ass? It's flawless!! I confess that his long hair isn't always my favorite look, but the rest of him is approaching perfect, and the fact that he's recently been featured in an Armani underwear campaign just makes my job here easy - and fun!
I know you remember today's Slap, Jamie Bell. You know, the cute little kid that starred in Billy Elliot about 10 years ago? The movie about the kid whose working-class dad wanted him to be a boxer - and he wanted instead to be a ballet dancer? If you haven't seen it, you should - it was a really nice movie, and Jamie Bell was really good, and quite cute in it.
Well, Jamie Bell is cute no longer. He is now fucking hot! I was watching Mister Foe today, and when I saw Jamie in it - more precisely, Jamie's beautiful ass - I knew he had to be Slapped right away! And if you haven't seen him in the recent movie The Eagle, you really should. The movie graciously keeps him without his shirt on for a nice long time, and he's quite a good actor too.
Let's stick with the Dancing with the Stars theme for one more day. Mark Ballas is another of the professional dancers on the show, and while he's not quite as cute as his fellow Slapee (Slappee?) Derek Hough, at least not in my humble opinion, it's really close - and he's incredibly cute with the most amazing body.
As with Derek, I've included a video of Mark from last season after the jump. It's him dancing the Paso Doble (I think...) with his partner Chelsea Kane. And it's really just a beautiful performance, and it's only enhanced by Mark's nice and revealing costume.
In case you were lying around wondering if I'm "gay enough", let me put your worries to rest. Tonight we were watching Dancing with the Stars, and I realized that I had yet to Slap the incomparable (I seem to use that word a lot lately...) Derek Hough. In case you're new to Dancing (what's wrong with you??), Derek is one of the professional dancers, and this season he's paired with Ricki Lake. In the past he's won when partnered with Jennifer Grey, among others.
Personally, I think Derek is probably the best of the professionals - and not just because he's the cutest. He's really just an amazing dancer too. I really missed him last season, when he took a hiatus to film - I think - Cobu 3D. I'll be interested to see if he shows much skin in that.
I also hope that Ricki Lake is a good enough dancer to keep Derek in the competition long enough to see more skin. And if you're not watching Dancing with the Stars, set your DVR!!
UPDATE: I should mention that you really need to check out the video of Derek dancing the Lambada with his partner from a couple of seasons ago. Watch it. Go. Now!!
Today's Slap is a little bit embarassing for me, but I'm gonna do it anyway. Today's Slap goes out to Scott Clifton, who's currently starring in The Bold and the Beautiful. Yes, you read that right - I'm Slapping a soap opera star, and I'm doing it because I saw him on his soap. I even recorded it on my DVR. Yeesh.
But I have an excuse! B&B is currently having some escapades in Aspen, and I just had to see town on the screen. And goodness, Scott is wickedly cute - so that's a good excuse too.
So I've embarassed myself enough here - enjoy Scott!
I was catching up on my TV tonight, and one of the shows on my current watch list - which, to be honest, is disturbingly long - is Glee. And looking especially good tonight was Mike Chang, ably played by Harry Shum Jr..
Harry actually started his career as a dancer, as a lead with folks such as Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and others. I've also heard he danced in an iPod commercial for Apple, but I can't seem to find a reference to that.
Regardless of his career, however, Harry is quite the cutie - and he's actually pretty compliant about taking off his shirt regularly, even if he doesn't do it much on Glee.
Oh, and FWIW, Glee is pretty entertaining so far this season.
Today's Slap, the absolutely stunningAlex O'Loughlin, should have been Slapped a loooooong time ago. Of course, I had stopped Slapping people for a while, so he was overlooked. Well, consider that problem fixed.
Alex is currently starring in the 2nd season of the Hawaii Five-0 reboot. I guess I should say that the current version is called Hawaii Five-0 (with a zero), and the original, starring Jack Lord, was Hawaii Five-O (with an oh). I don't really know why there's a difference, but I guess it doesn't matter. I never watched the original, but the new one is virtually appointment television - since it's set in Hawaii, you're virtually guaranteed a nice view of Alex's beautiful chest every week. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend taking it for a test drive.
Alex has been in a few other things, but nothing of much note.
The fat, lazy funny patter cat, was created by Jim Davis in 1978. Within four years, Garfield’s comic strip was appearing in a thousand newspapers around the world. He also has computer animated and cartoon movies under his belt.
Honestly, I feel a little bit self-conscious with today's Slap - Nathaniel David Becker just sounds so formal. It appears that he prefers to go by Nate, so other than for links, I'll stick with that - and it's much easier to type. Regardless, back to the meat of the situation - Nate Becker is today's Slap, and boy is he a cutie.
I found Nate in Were the World Mine, a gay version of A Midsummer Night's Dream. There are some other cuties in the film, but Nate is by far the standout. Unfortunately, IMDB reports that he hasn't done much else on screen - either big or small. Apparently he lives in NYC - maybe he's currently appearing nude in an Off Broadway play? Hey, a guy can dream...
Anyway, I'm hoping that some casting directors are busy surfing Bent right now and will notice Nate and pick him up for their next film. So if you're a casting director, get busy!
First of all congratulation for such a great site. I learned a lot reading article here today. I will make sure i visit this site once a day so i can learn more.
I especially like the title he put on the picture:
There's always the hope that if you sit and watch for long enough, the beachball will vanish and the thing it interrupted will return.
In looking back on it, the effect that Steve Jobs and his vision had on my life is truly profound. My parents bought me an Apple II more years ago than I like to admit. And I was absolutely glued to it, not so much playing games as tinkering - writing programs of all sorts. That tinkering (and any number of Macs) led me directly to where I am today.
It's currently True Blood season in the cable TV land - at least in *my* cable TV land. I guess technically it ended early last month. But I'm catching up on the whole season basically at once, so right now it's True Blood season.
And if you're a fan, you know there are a ton of hot guys on the show, and today's Slap goes out to the first of several I'll feature this month. Marshall Allman plays Tommy Mickens on the show - he's the "long lost" (and slightly creepy) shape-shifting brother of Sam Merlotte, who is himself a shape shifter. He also did a hilarious performance in a Funny or Die video where he appears clothed only in a few video blurs, spoofing his True Blood character. (There are a few screen grabs after the jump...)
I don't really have much else to tell you about Marshall's role in True Blood this season - I'm only 5 episodes in, but I wouldn't tell you even if I knew, because I hate spoiling things for people. So if you know, please don't blab about anything really interesting in the comments.
I must apologize for this slightly belated introduction of today's Slapsistant, Joosee. He referred to himself as a "guest Slapper" in today's Slap of the fantastic Bobby Campo, but he's promised to make more than just an occasional post around here.
Joosee was the one with whom - many years ago - I coined the term "Daily Slap", and that's absolutely reflective of the general insanity that informs our friendship.
So, please welcome Joosee. I know I'm looking forward to more of his Slap selections!
Today's Slap is a tasty one - none other than Bobby Campo. Long of "The Final Destination," Mr. Campo seems to be building on his cake-fright cred with "Seance," a forthcoming flick about some hot chicks and him playing Ouija in a morgue. Shirtless writhing and lots of body painting ensue. Link to the Facebook trailer here, although we haven't seen the broader release of trailers on the YouTubes. We'll keep checking.
Rob and I were chatting, as we so frequently do, about "who's hot" lately - and he IMed me the shot of Campo in the yellow bathing suit. I nearly fell out of my chair, and today's Slap was born.
I'm proud to have played a small, teensy part of the gestation of The Daily Slap, and even more tickled to be Guest Slapping on Bent from time to time.
Rob is back with a vengeance! Believe me when I tell you: wanting to slap cute boys is only one of the myriad nutty things that come out of our long friendship. Just ask him about "Ice Jimmies."
I was hoping to have the first Slap by one of my new Slap Assistants (Slapsistants?) today, but he seems to be AWOL as I write this, so I'm going ahead and ... erm ... taking care of business myself.
Once my Slapsistant shows himself, he will get a nice hard Slap himself, especially since he has quite a cutie ready to Slap. And since I don't want to steal that thunder, I'm going to Slap someone else.
So today's victim is Justin Deeley. You may have noticed Justin on TV recently, at least if you're a regular viewer of the reincarnation of 90210. I confess that I am not a regular viewer of the new 90210, even though the incomparable Trevor Donovan plays a gay character and has had at least a couple of on-screen kisses (right??) with some serious hotties.
Anyway, back to Justin - I'm sure you'll be shocked to hear that he was also an underwear model in the past. But looking like this I certainly hope Justin's role will be a long-lived one on 90210. Because even if I don't watch the show regularly (or at all), I'm certain to see more nice skin pictures.
P.S. I should give a hat tip today (and most days, honestly...) to the lovely folks over at Dreamcaps and famous males for being such a fantastic source for pictures of hotties!
Since I didn't Slap him yesterday, I really had to Slap him today. I mean, it's been WAY too long since my still-favorite has had a good hard Slap. I'm referring, of course, to Jamie Bamber. I first fell madly in lust when he was in Battlestar Galactica, but much to my chagrin that show ended. Since then he's mostly been working on Law & Order: UK, but it seems he has another project or two out there going on.
There are a few problems with Law & Order: UK:
a) It's hard to find the episodes here consistently.
2) It's not sci-fi, and I have a soft spot for anything sci-fi
D) Most importantly, as far as I've been able to tell, Jamie doesn't show nearly enough skin ...
P.S. I should note that some of the pictures on Jamie's page are really big. I'm going to be tweaking the site to deal with that soon, but I thought if anyone deserved really big pictures it was Jamie.
