It's not that I think stupidity should be punishable by death. I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem take care of itself.
Alex wrote to suggest that I Slap former Oz hottie Kirk Acevedo. Even though the quality of the caps I was able to find wasn't great, Kirk definitely looked good in Oz. And, honestly, I don't think I've featured the Oz guys enough. Even though I couldn't find one of Kirk, the Oz guys seemed to show their bits a lot.
You know, honestly, it seems like there should be more pics out there of Kirk. Does anyone know of a good stash? I scoured pretty thoroughly, but sometimes these things have a way of hiding...
Kirk was one of the main reasons I watched OZ. I like the tormented, bad-boy type, I guess.
Thanks, bud. As always, greatly appreciated.

New searching
Finally! I've had a few minutes of free time to make a couple of changes around here. They're small changes right now, but I'm in the planning stages of a bigger re-design that's long overdue, and I wanted to do a couple of things first.
So, first out of the box is a new look for the search feature. Rather than retrieve the entire post of all matching search results, I'm now just putting up the title and a link to the whole post. I realized that when I search the site myself, I use a search feature available on the back end that does it that way -- and I much prefer it. So I rolled it out for everyone else, along with some changes to the rendering code that will make other things easier.
So anyway - do you prefer it this way? Or should I go back to displaying the entire post of all search results?
I tried it with "Ryan" just to see the difference and I liked.

I love the new search, it makes it *much* easier to pinpoint the exact post I am looking for (which 90% of the time is a specific person). One suggestion ... if there are no matching results, output a message of "No matches" or something?
Today's Slap comes at the request of Nyles - he requested UK actor Alec Newman, saying:
Since you have Hotties James Mcavoy and Matt Keeslar was thinkng all thats missing is Alec Newman to complete the Dune Men Set.
Alec, as Nyles mentioned, is the hottie you may remember from the Sci-Fi Channel's production of Dune. He played Paul Atreides in Dune and Children of Dune - you may remember Children of Dune because it featured former Slap James McAvoy playing Paul Atreides' son Leto.
I have to confess that Alec looked substantially less hot in Children of Dune than in Dune, where he really looked stunning. Some of the pics after the jump look nothing short of fabulous.
Good Slap! I only partly bought the mini series because I am a sci-fi geek! The rest was all Alec Newman!

True he wasn't as hot as in the first mini series (since it was suppose to be more about his children taking over from where the parents left off)by the way stil hoping to get both mini series on DVD hopefully Fye has them Dune-Children Of Dune.
Sorry, but I'm gonna have to phone this one in today. I'm feeling like death warmed over. So I'll leave it at this: Today's Slap is actor David Wenham. Quite the furball, isn't he?

Deffinately a hot man .. mmm Loved him in Lord of the Rings.
Here is a link to some other exposing shots of Mr. Wenham!
Who is he and why do we care? Go see him in 300 and you'll find lots to care about. G. Butler got all the press, but this guy stole the show (at least for me) every time he was in a frame.
Where did that picture of him slinking across the floor in black briefs comes from? Corny, fun, and HOT all at the same time!!
This guy looks SOOO British! Speaking of Brits, have there been any daily slaps celebrating the Royal brothers? (they are of legal age now, you know)

Vince's little Idols
LAKISHA JONES - Last Dance Just like Donna Summer, this girl is a bonafide DIVA! Compared to last week she was a lot sexier and sleeker and definitely ready to hit the dancefloor while rockin' those naughty boots. The uptempo song was a breath of fresh air, but she needs to smile and enjoy her performances more like her counterpart Melinda.
CHRIS SLIGH - Every Little Thing She Does Is Majic No magic in this performance. It felt very nasal, especially in the beginning. Unfortunately, unless there are a bunch of girls out there that like his hair as much as Sanjaya's, I have a feeling he is going home tonight.
SANJAYA MALAKAR - Bathwater Where do I start??? Even Gwen had no confidence in him! He sounded like Johnny Mathis doing No Doubt. He also forgot some of the words in the middle of the song. And how appropriate were the lyrics, "diving into my own destruction". And the hairdo, oh God, the hairdo. That wasn't a mohawk or even a faux hawk. He looked like a chihuahua winning Best in Show!
GINA GLOCKSEN - I'll Stand By You I'm not a big fan of this girl, but I have to admit that she gave a great performance. She didn't yell her performance, like she normally does. It was strong and powerful.
HALEY SCARNATO - True Colors She gives the impression of being more of a model than a singer. Heck she even has the mole a la Cindy Crawford to boot. The camera loves her and she loves the camera so much that she is constantly looking for it, even though she misses looking at the right camera every time. As for her performance, she does well with softer ballads as opposed to the power ballads. Doing Cyndi Lauper is good. Doing Celine Dion is disastrous. Although I enjoyed her performance, Simon is right, most of the time they are forgettable.
PHIL STACEY - Every Breath You Take Ok, who was his make-up artist last night? Boy George? He had a very karma chameleon look. As for his performance, it was good but I find this guy does not have the it factor. He's got more potential of being a back up singer than Melinda or Brandon.
MELINDA DOOLITTLE - Heaven Knows Heaven knows this girl can sing! She is fun to listen to and to watch perform. She's so happy to perform that she makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. The same feeling I used to get as a kid watching the muppets. She reminds me of one, she's cute and has no neck like them. As for Simon dispensing fashion advice, that's like Nicole ritchie giving weight loss tips. Shouldn't happen!
BLAKE LEWIS - Love Song What I like about this guy is his way of arranging a song and making it hip and contemporary. He's very consistent at doing that and although he gave a good performance, it was a little boring.
JORDIN SPARKS - Hey Baby She can definitely sing anything and she proves that tonight. I just had an issue with the outfit. It was a little too picnic trashy chic, but I guess eventually all Mickey Mouse Club members get a little down and dirty. Can anyone say Britney or Christina?
CHRIS RICHARDSON - Don't Speak I enjoyed last week's performance a lot more. He definitely seemed to struggle with this song. I think he was a little shaken from being in the bottom two last week. He looked like a discouraged, scared little boy up there. His performance was good but safe.
Blake probably has the best chance with the boys (I didn't mean that the way it sounded, but there it is). He has a good voice and does some really cool arrangements. But. . .has anyone else noticed that sexy little snarl he does with his upper right lip? Baby!
Cruz
|
2007-03-28 - 06:35
I really hate blake! This is the second week he tries to pull off a second rate 311 performance. That arrangement last night wasn't original at all! 311 covered it for 51st date and that's the way that they arranged the song!

Okay, I have to say first that I am a huge fan of Blake's, so I don't intend this as any sort of slam (hopefully most people will see some good in it), but Blake's voice reminds me so much of the lead singer from Erasure--especially in this week's and last week's performances. But honestly, are any of us on "the team" actually listening to his voice...or are we too busy watching the way his body moves? ;-)

I agree with your AmIdol notes. my favs are Blake, Melinda, Jordinand Lakisha. I am mourning the loss of Gina. Chris is OK..wouldn't kick him out.
LaKisha Jones Fantastic performance! Her voice continues to amaze me with its dynamic range. And she looked great tonight. A.
Chris Sligh It seems dangerous to me to take on a song as iconic as this one. His tone is all wrong, but you can hear him trying to mimic Sting - bad idea. He really should have worked out a different arrangement he could do. As it is, this is nothing more than karaoke. Bad karaoke. I have to disagree with the Randy and Paula - his problem wasn't limited to tempo. It was far more than that. C-.
Simon: "It was a mess." Nailed it. Phew.
Chris: "My bad." Indeed.
Gina Glockson Good start, if a sketchy falsetto. Perhaps it's just me, but I like this week's performance much better than last week's. But maybe that punk (is it safe to call it that?) shit just turns me off. I thought it was a pretty good performance, actually. B+.
Simon: "Your best performance." I'd have to agree. But better than LaKisha? Hmmm.
Sanjaya Malakar Oh lord. He can't remember the words when he's in with Gwen? Not a good sign. And she thinks it's a tough song? Christ. I think he knows he should be gone already, so he's gone right off the deep end. Evidence: the hair. He went up there for just a second, but surprisingly, he has a pretty good tone tonight. Apparently, as is common, not caring makes him better. B.
Paula: I think he's getting close to having the gumption. If he makes it, next week could be interesting.
It's funny, I've been comparing him to Chicken Little and John Stevens, but Sanjaya is WAY WAY WAY more interesting. Yay!
Haley Scarnato My husband says: "She looks like the love child of Sally Field and Sandra Bullock." Hmmm. Haley's working the sexy angle again tonight, which is what she's gotta do. Because otherwise this performance just isn't interesting. Sure she can hit the occasional note, but eh. B.
Simon: "Sweet but forgettable." Yep.
Phil Stacey Ah. I think Phil is my current least favorite. Hopefully he won't ruin this the way Chris Sligh ruined his. He sounds better than Chris, but I still think this is basically a karaoke performance. It's better than his normal stuff, and I don't dislike him quite as much as before. B-.
Melinda Doolittle Gwen thinks her voice is "beautiful and mindblowing." Wow. And her performance was, as usual, incredible. There's nothing at all to complain about. She's true to the song, but making it her own. If she doesn't win this, it's an absolute crime. A.
Randy: "Da bomb!"
Simon: "Hate the outfit." Thank you, Mr. Blackwell.
Blake Lewis Wow, this is a tough song to sing, but like Gwen said, I think he can do it if he's careful. But the beatbox has to be really light and just right. I think he did the perfect amount of beatbox, actually. And he had a great tone throughout. B+.
Randy: I agree, it wasn't my favorite song choice for him, but he did a really nice job.
Oh, and he looks really cute tonight.
Jordin Sparks This is really hard because of the range required - and you can hear her bottoming out in a dangerous way. But she's got a good attitude going on that's helping her out. She did a good job on a very tough song. B+.
Chris Richardson "Vocal olympics." I love that. I'm sure the IOC has already sued her for that. Hopefully they won't sue me too. As for Chris, he's doing a great job. Really involved in the song, but doing a good job of restraining his tendency to play around with his voice. And he's always fun to watch. B+.
Randy: "Just believe baby." Well, that says it all.
Simon: "You struggled in the middle." I don't think so - I thought it was great all the way through.
And Gwen did a great job with the coaching and commentary this week! I love her!
OK, I generally agree with most of this... but the seven-point, uber-scary, peacock-from-hell Sanjaya hair train wreck is just another reason he should be shown the door. I call shenanigans!
Today's Slap is courtesy of John; he wrote to suggest Stargate SG-1 actor Michael Shanks, saying, "I think he would fit in nicely." Well, I think that's quite an understatement.
What a hottie, although, again, he has a tendency to shave his chest too much. And as for the glasses, they're very much a "two face" phenomenon - sometimes good, sometimes bad. Actually, sometimes they look really hot, but that's the square ones - the round ones look too geeky.
He seems to have done quite a few other small things other than Stargate, but I don't really recognize any of them except the short guest runs on various series. Looking into his future, he has a project that's sure to be an Oscar-winner: MegaSnake. Actually, it's a TV movie, so it'll have to be an Emmy, but how could a movie named "MegaSnake" miss?
I don't think he does shave. I've never seen any hair on his beautifully smooth chest during years of watching, and there's nothing here that shows any. His only great fault is that he has never spent enough time out of his clothes to sufficiently display what a marvelous bit of Canada he is.
Doesn't the third pic from the bottom show some fur? Or do I need to clean my screen again?
Update (3/27/2007): D'oh! Fareva was right - that pic with fur isn't Michael - as Chris said, it's former Slap Ben Browder. So maybe Michael doesn't shave. That's a good thing.
Megacute! Megasnake? How on earth to things with names like that get greenlite in the first place?

I quit watching Stargate many many seasons ago, I just got tired of it, but I always thought Michael Shanks was the best thing about that show. I also wondered what he looked like sans shirt. Love him! He's always been a personal favorite of mine. Love the show, too. After 10 seasons on cable they're now leaving the SciFi Channel to make movies on DVD.
The first photo (before "more") is hot as hell but the rest were disappointing.

Love him. A producer said about the nude scene (You only did the close ups!) that Michael was like a werewolf. A pretty facetious remark. Considering I didn't see a lick of hair on his legs, I'm pretty sure he doesn't shave either. Somebody will have to ask Lexa Doig, his wife (in the background on the last picture), about it.
I always thought of my archaeologists as more normal, not the buffed up kind. Then again, that's probably why they do keep him clothed for the most part.
I keep waiting for Christopher Judge to explode, because he seems to get bigger every season.

Actually, picture #16 looks like he might have hair... And on a SG1 Highlight on SciFi, the guy who plays Telc was asked what viewers might find interesting about Shanks and he said "they would not believe how long it takes for him to shave his body".

A) The second to last pic (with the long hair) is a fake - Michael's face on someone else's body. B) He is a quite furry man. he definitely shaves his chest. He said it on stage at some Con last year AND I've seen him up close with a few top shirt buttons undone - You definitely see stubble....

March Gayness rolls on...
...without me.
Just kidding of course. But the voting for the Final Four has commenced. If I may, I'd like to make a few recommendations:
Ok, you KNOW I really like your blog, and I really like Scott-O-Rama (could be a name thing!)and I really like Towleroad, omg blog truely gets on my nerves, but kenneth in the 212? COME ON! How could you possibly recommend a blog where the author writes such crappy things, like he did about Kevin Tillman, Pat Tillman's brother, on 10/24 (band of brothers)? On too many occasions this jackass has posted, obviously without thinking about what his (stupid, missguided?) pissy words mean. I don't go there anymore, the boy is a bitch. Direct quote: "I don't blame you for being mad, Kevin. But everyone I know feels as helpless as you do... ...If it's so easy to stop this insanity, why aren't you?" WTF?
Scott

Awww... you're so sweet.
The whole cheating thing from the last round left a bad taste in my mouth though. I'm not sure all the blogs that made it to the elite 8 deserve to be there, and vice versa. I don't understand why the votes for Bent were adjusted so that you lost when you had been steadily been gaining votes all week.
I have respectfully withdrawn from the competition, but thank you so much for your recommendation anyway.
My official explanation is here if anyone is interested: http://www.scott-o-rama.com/2007/03/27/the-march-gayness-competition-ugliness/
I agree about Kenneth in the 212. He syas things like.. if someone has cancer, couldnt happen to a better person (Tony Snow) and 'I'd like to kill everyone I see who smokes' and then dont mention anyone more than 2.6 lbs overweight...

March Gayness
Unfortunately, I have to inform everyone who was kind enough to vote for me that I did not, in fact, make the Elite 8 in The Malcontent's March Gayness. The raw results reported that I beat my formidable competitor Outsports by a healthy margin, but in looking at the raw voting data, Matt determined that there were some "shenanigans".
And having conducted more than one poll myself, I am 100% certain that Matt was right - in fact, I can't imagine that there weren't shenanigans. And frankly, for me to beat a competitor as strong as Outsports by a 50% margin simply wasn't credible.
So, as much as I'm disappointed by the results in my particular race, it seems like Matt did the best he could to sort out the "good" votes from the "bad". And I certainly appreciate the effort he's putting into the contest! And I was thrilled to have made the Sweet 16, frankly.
So next year, I'll train harder and hopefully the Malcontent guys will decide to put on another great tournament.
And, of course, thanks so much for voting for me!!
Elite 8 voting will start later today, so I'll let you know once that happens...
Aww... Buck up little camper. Win or lose, we got nothing but love for ya baby! What you have won for sure is a big "slap" on the back for keeping us all "slap" happy!

I'll second the idea of a self-slap... only if I can do the photo shoot that leads to the actual online "spread."
Classy sentiments, Rob. I felt bad to be put in this position in the first place, but hopefully I'll get my shit together a little more from the start next year.
OK, file today's Slap, Ari Gold in the category of "Why didn't I Slap him before?" Dae wrote to remind me that he'd asked for Ari before, and I'd neglected his request for far too long.
And as I looked through my list of requests, I found that he was listed under "out" Slaps. Is this true? Well, kick me in the nads and call me squeaky.
So, just who is Ari Gold? Well, according to his site he's an "International Recording Artist". OK. Who's got more? Regardless, he's fucking hot hot hot! He kinda gives me a Chris Daughtry vibe (I can't say if that applies to his music, but he looks like him, doesn't he?). Well, actually, now I can say. From Ari's site:
...steeped in sticky pop melodies, sing-along hooks, and butt- shakin' funk rhythms... solid radio-ready material. Gold is about to hit pay dirt! -- Larry Flick, Billboard
OK, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't apply to Chris Daughtry. So there you have it. I may have to check out Ari's music. Honestly, I'd like to check out more of Ari, but that seems less likely. And back to Chris D. for just a moment, he looks like Chris, but I think Ari's way hotter. I mean there's something sexy about Chris, but Ari's just in amazing shape!!
Kind of ghetto in a wrong kind of way..yet hot (killer smile to boot) Kudos Rob, Kudos!

Lets keep it positive boys. Ari is an OUT artist. His career would have gone alot smoother if he waited until he had made it (like Elton John).
He is original, writes his own music, has an amazing voice. And yes he's really hot, thats why we see him here!!
Check out his website AriGold.com and hear his music. Once you see him perform you will be a fan.
If you see him perform you can go up to him and say hi - he won't bite and is really very sweet and shy (off stage!!!!) He did a gay halloween cruise and was a major mensch.
He is finishing up a new album which should be out soon.

Derek & Romaine!
You know, I haven't mentioned Sirius Radio's OutQ channel generally - and Derek & Romaine specifically - in quite some time, but my husband and I are returning from a short roadtrip today (pics later...), and I remembered that D&R are on at 4pm MDT. Woohoo!
So here we are listening, and I'm surfing - thanks to my fantastic Sprint card! - and I figured now was as good a time as any to mention them. I haven't listened in forever because I didn't want to pay for 2 subscriptions, but my husband's new car has a Sirius radio, so now we have a subscription. So I'm hoping to be able to listen online...
OK, I know these are words that you thought you'd never see from my keyboard, but today's Slap is actor Steve Guttenberg. I can't take 100% credit for Steve, after all it was Thom that suggested him, but I think he's so hot. Or at least he was so hot. Sometimes.
Specifically, did you ever see him in Cocoon? Wow. He looked hot as the boat driver that sent all those crazy little old people flying into space. Steve was also in that propoganda film that your school (well, my school, at least) got so worked up about when I was a kid - The Day After.
As for Steve himself, I don't know how he looks these days so much, but he used to be quite the hottie, with a nice little patch of chest hair. Yum!
Hasn't he been on "Veronica Mars" this year? Very boy nest door but after yesterdays slap well...I wouldn't want to follow that either.

I loved Steve ever since that scene in the pool in Cocoon, and so I've stripped him twice: barenakedmen.blogspot.com/2006/09/movie-hunks-19-steve-guttenberg.html barenakedmen.blogspot.com/2006/06/movie-hunks-13-steve-guttenberg.html
Also loved him in "Three Men and A Baby" as the hunky artist living a wild singles life with two other hot men - that still gives me PLENTY to fantasize about!!!

Exactly, Anon, Can't Stop the Music! The unforgettable opening scene with Steve in a skin-tight green polo shirt and jeans, roller skating through Manhattan until he meets up with Valerie Perrine!

Stevie boy was a vision in blue in those Police Academy flicks. Made me nostalgic for years gone by... "Officer, can I see your badge please."
Thanks for slapping my ALL TIME FAVORITE Actor -- many fantasies running through my mind right now. Cocoon was stunning - another with him with shirt off many times is "Bedroom Window"--- HOT!

Great post. All these years I thought I was the only one who had a thing for him!
When I was a teenager I worked in a movie theater and used to slip into the endless stream of "Police Academy" movies to catch a glimpse of him ... then "Cocoon" started playing at the AMC Fiesta Village and I no longer had to hide my head in shame!
Oooh, and then in "The Bedroom Window" he got even hotter ...
Hi guys. Great site. Good info. Help me! I find sites on the topic: Car donations for veterans henderson nv. I found only this - car donations in rochester new york. Car donations, an extreme nothing to pick is that, if the tax is the election most ever included table for end form and token features are subsequently presented for this organization. Car donations, sageview capital for $723 million. THX , Celia from Guatemala.
You can blame Joseph for the hideous creature you see before you. He wrote, saying:
Greg Vaughan should be slapped, and slapped hard. He's built, and with the combination of dark hair, blue eyes, and an awesome hairy chest...I think he'd be a great addition.
As any regular reader should instantly know, I was being sarcastic when I referred to Greg Vaughan here as hideous. The man is nearly perfect. And he has a really nice furry chest - nice enough that it's really a shame that he shaves it so regularly.
Anyway, Greg, as you may have guessed, stars as Lucky Spencer on General Hospital. He also spent some time on Charmed.
AWESOME SLAP! YUM. The combination of dark hair and blue eyes is my fantasy. Too bad about the shaving -- me a smoothie can think of nothing better than spooning with my hand on a hairy pec.

I guess changing our light bulbs is going to save the planet. If we are to become less dependent on foreign energy sources, then lets utilize ANWAR and the oil in the Gulf of Mexico. While New Orleans was largely destroyed by Katrina, the existing oil rigs in the Gulf survived unscathed.

After all that girly whoopdie doo, frolicking in the pasture and shirt removal... a hot-guy make-out session? Priceless. :)
But the only place I can recall seeing him is as a cloned Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Nemesis. Apparently he was in Black Hawk Down also, but he must have had a small role. Can anyone point us to some other scenes we should catch?
Cue me ripping off my shirt and running around the court again!
I was down for a while, but you guys rallied me to beat some fierce competition against Made in Brazil in March Gayness. I won by a single vote!! So thanks again!
So it's on to the round of 16! So if I can beg again, please go vote for me. I'm really getting shameless here, huh?
And as usual, be sure to check out some of the great blogs that have made it to the Sweet 16's, including my fantastic competition, Outsports and Kenneth in the 212. And I really can't forget to mention the great blog that the hosts of March Gayness, Matt and Robbie, run.

Wow, this is very exciting! I confess that I predict Towleroad will be the ultimate victor, he just has more numbers to rally, but you should be very proud of how far you've already gotten!
OK, I'm picturing you ripping off your shirt and running around. Of course, I don't know what you look like, so I'll picture Nick Beyeler. Mmmmm, that's very nice.
Steve wrote - and was kind enough to send along pictures - to request that I Slap one of the current stars of Heroes, Zachary Quinto.
The shirtless pics of Zachary that you'll see after the jump are from his brief run as Tori Spelling's gay friend in So noTORIous. And the guy with him in the sauna is, as far as I can tell, Chris W. King, who appears to be fully worthy of a Slap himself.
I haven't ever seen Heroes, but I keep hearing that it's one of the best shows on TV. And I'm kinda sorry I missed So noTORIous if it had hot sweaty scenes like that on a regular basis.
As for Zachary himself, I'm kinda torn. He's got a kind of adorkability, but he doesn't do that much for me. It could be the comparison I'm making between him and Chris King, but he's just not turning my crank.
YUM! I scoped him out on Tori's bad show, but fell in lust. Thanks for the pics! I've seen him guest-star on a couple other shows, but can't remember which. You should also research and SLAP the hottie that is with him in the sauna!

There's a great "is he or isn't he" thread on IMDB. I think the evidence supports that he probably is. They point out that he has pretty consistently plays gay characters (the gay priest in the play LAYING OF HANDS, the bisexual "Real World"-er on OFF CENTRE --where he actually says "Taste My Bisexual Fury!" no joke--and the probably gay Adam on "24").
Then there's this amazing quote from an interview he did with Six Degrees Magazine: "Well, Ugg boots came and went, thank the sweet Lord....I’m kind of over skinny jeans. They seem to be all the rage right now, and I could do without those." If he is straight and this is how he rolls, then he's even HOTTER to me...slap well deserved!

Vince's take on Idol
Here, once again, is Vince's take on last night's American Idol. I hope he's wrong about Stephanie...
---------------
HALEY SCARNATO - Tell Him If this was her best performance, it's not saying much. I found it OK. She was having fun, but it proves my point that this song was like something that could be performed on Broadway, like Hairspray. All to say that she is very good with that genre and shaking her boobs too.
CHRIS RICHARDSON - Don't Let The Sun Get You Cryin' He just made getting a broken heart a much easier thing to go through. That was a great performance.
STEPHANIE EDWARDS - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me I expected more from her tonight and I didn't get it. It wasn't a passionate performance and it felt like she was desperately trying to remember the words and follow the arrangements.
BLAKE LEWIS - Time of the Season Tonight he blended JT's dance moves with Michael Buble's voice and added his own charm that could knock just about anyone's pants off, even if they are plaid.
LAKISHA JONES - Diamonds are Forever This girl shines and sparkles like a diamond. Although it wasn't her best performance, she still sounded and looked like a million bucks.
PHIL STACEY - Tobacco Road The impression I get with this guy is a Michael Bolton type trying to imitate Chris Daughtry from last season. He can sing but his looks and dance moves doesn't scream star, but more Bar Band.
JORDIN SPARKS - I Who Have Nothing Au contraire, she who does have something. Wow! She is turning out to be the Kelly Clarkson of this season. She has got so much potential and I don't think we've seen anything yet.
SANJAYA MALAKAR - You Really Got Me It's funny... I had the same reaction as the little girl in the crowd who was crying, only I'm sure that we were both crying for totally different reasons. I just want to cry some tears of joy on results night when he finally gets kicked out. On the positive side, he can always borrow clothes from that little girl in the crowd. They seem to be the same size and have the same taste.
GINA GLOCKSEN - Paint it Black She didn't rock out the song, the song rocked her out. I think the music overtook her performance.
CHRIS SLIGH - She's Not There Good song choice and he did a much better job than last week. I'm also glad to see the glasses back. If he didn't have them this week, I think that walk in the crowd could have given us a totally different performance.
MELINDA DOOLITTLE - As Long As He Needs Me For as long as she needs us, we will be right there voting for her. As usual she gave a great performance and probably the best one of the night.
Sadly, I think Stepahnie Edwards will be getting the boot after tonight.
I haven't done a random hottie in a while, and I was surfing around Someone in a Tree today, catching up on my reading, and caught a glimpse of this guy and had to track him down. Holy cow. He leaves me breathless.
His name is Paul Tornabene or something like that, and YES, he is utterly perfect. Took my breath away, too, the first time I saw him. He's got his own website, too, but as I recall, some of the pictures on it couldn't be saved, but I got some! These are far sexier, however...what a sweet HAIRY ass....oh, and that sexy PIT HAIR!!!!

The Ass shot! I think I just um, relieved myself!! ;-) peace
So far, I'm digging Lulu - she just seems like she'd be fun to hang out with.
Haley Scarnatto I think Lulu gave Haley good advice in her little instruction clip. And hell, Haley looks great tonight (really, she always does). I'm not sure they could put her on TV if her shorts got any shorter, but that's OK. And except for going up once (I think), it's a pretty engaging performance. Perhaps just a touch indicated, but definitely her best of the competition. And she's definitely cute enough to survive. B+.
Simon: Shrieky? Huh?
Chris Richardson Interesting advice that Chris is getting here; I always worry about his voice, and that seems to be what Peter thinks the problem is. I'm torn about Chris' performance. It's a very committed performance, and he has a talented voice, but the tone always seems just the slightest bit whiny, and I don't think this song did anything to dispel that. Still, I think that performance will likely be one of the better ones of the evening. A-.
Simon: His best so far? Hmmm. I'm still a fan of "Geek in the Pink", but that's OK.
Chris is still my favorite...
Stephanie Edwards Oh, this has really started nicely. Is that the band talking, instead of Stephanie singing? I don't think so... And she's really into this performance - nice! She could really start to shine like Melinda and LaKisha if she keeps this up. A couple of those notes sounded a skosh pitchy, but not too bad. B+.
Interesting that the judges think she fell off so substantially. I didn't think so at all.
Blake Edwards Blake doing The Zombies? Should be interesting. And Peter Noone is an idiot - but Lulu is da bomb. One thing is for sure, Blake always puts a modern spin on what he does. His voice sounds pretty good in this, actually, maybe a bit pitchy. But the whole thing is still pretty interesting. I love the commitment to the act. Overall extremely well done. (I can overlook the small pitch problems.) A.
I loved the arrangement - as the judges said, it really updated a classic 40 year old song.
LaKisha Jones Yay! We like LaKisha! What? LaKisha doesn't have vast experience singing 60's British pop?? You're kidding! And p.s., I still really like Lulu - she's fantastic!! Oh no! She skipped Lulu's advice. But hell, so far so good. I love the vampy nature of this song, and I love that she's going for it. And god, her voice really brings it home. A-.
Randy: I have to disagree with Randy. Perhaps she held herself back just a bit too much, but I still think she brought it home.
Oh, and it really didn't look like $1,000,000 worth of diamonds. None of them look very big. But whatever...
Phil Stacey Maybe Peter Noone will give Phil bad advice and he'll get voted off. Hey, a guy can dream. OK, I can tell right away that this performance is gonna bug me. And Phil, if you're gonna pick up the mic stand, at least be a little bit convincing, you just look like a dork. As my husband noted, Chris Daughtry would have killed this song. Maybe I'm just a bit too prejudiced against Phil, but UGH. I suppose it was an OK performance, I can't give it a grade based purely on my personal feelings. B-.
Jordin Sparks Does she look a little distracted during this performance? Or is it just me? I'm not sure I caught it, but just for a second she looked like she was on another planet. She hasn't sounded bad at all yet, and I'm probably imagining things, but ya know... Other than that little walk about, it was a great performance - and her voice was spectacular, I thought. A/A-.
Sanjaya Malakar Oh no. Tonight has been fantastic, so far. I hope Sanjaya doesn't fuck it up. I still like him, but oy - what a terrible performer. Let's see if he can do this one. Nope. Do I need to write more? And was that little girl crying because the performance was so bad? Probably. OK, I'm done here. B.
OK. I'm not quite done. I have to give him credit here - he really went for it. I've never seen him so energetic and determined to hit a song out of the park. The vocals were still pretty bad, but it was more fun than he usually is.
Simon: Right on.
Gina Glockson Hmmm. Reading comments on blogs? Somehow I figure the only contestant that might read this blog is Sanjaya. Anyway, on to Gina. Oh, can I just say again how useful Lulu is - and how worthless Peter is? Yeesh. OK. Gina. I think this is definitely a great song choice for Gina - again it shows off her personal style. But I just didn't care for the performance. B-.
Simon: Again, right on. Moments of torture.
Chris Sligh Oy. Do we really need to hear Chris Sligh talking about being sexy? And look at that - Peter Noone gave some good advice. Wow! His falsetto gets a little pitchy, but he still has a pretty good voice. And I have to note that as much as I agreed with Peter's advice of communicating the meaning of the lyrics, I don't think Chris is doing it. B.
Melinda Doolittle Oh boy! Melinda should be able to do great things with this. Wow. Another fantastic performance. Fully committed. Incredible vocal. What more can I say? I think Melinda is clearly the best of the night. A.
Overall, I have to say that tonight was the best night of the competition. Almost everyone was really good tonight. With that said, I think it should be Phil or Gina that goes. Fingers crossed for Phil.
Funnily enough my ex used to hang out with Lulu and her ex husband Maurice Gibb and Barry Gibb in the Sixties. ;-)Just be thankful you don't have to watch American Idol in the UK. We get Tuesday's and Wednesday's together on Friday but we get a wierd version where Cat Deeley (So you think you can dance) interviews the guests and singers after every song. Anyone seen Simon's new UK series on ITV called the X Factor with Sharon Osbourne. Very camp!
Today's Slap comes courtesy of GerrysDen (I'm really not sure what kind of name that is...), and, I'm almost certain, someone else whose request I can't find. Anyway, Ty Pennington is today's victim.
Ty is best known by nearly everyone as the host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I'll confess that I've only watched about 15 minutes total of this show, but he always looked pretty cute to me.
Before he really became well known on Extreme Makeover in 2004, Ty was a carpenter on Trading Spaces for 4 years. He also has had a few episodes on Hollywood Squares and also played Wilbur Wright in The Adventures of Ociee Nash. And he recently had a cameo in the new film with John Travolta et al., Wild Hogs.
I sense a possible theme. How about Jason Cameron and Andrew Dan Jumbo (now there's a name) from While You Were Out. There is also Eric - don't know the last name from Clean Sweep. By the wat keep up the great work. My day isn't complete without a visit to "Bent"

he's not an aussie sadly. he's in the US. but damned hot!
OK, this is gonna have to be a quickie Slap, because I'm racing out the door to meet my family and go skiing. And since I didn't have time to go hunt down any pics, I had to go through my picture archives and see who I'd already done some research on. And the first one I came across was UK actor David Paisley. To further strengthen his hand, we haven't really had a good twink here in a few days at least.
Best of all, there were a bunch of pics of him smooching another guy. Nice!
So who can fill in for me and tell us what David's done of note?
Why have I seen nothing of this guy here in the States? Combine that face and bod with a British accent, and it might stupefy a simple Yank like me. King George could have retaken the Colonies by sending over just a few Brit-boys like him. Oh, to be putty in those hands!

Not sure what you mean by a British accent, but David Paisley is Scottish through and through, with accent to match. Best remembered here for his angst-ridden gay teenager in Tinseltown, where he had a hot affair with a gay policeman - some of the slaps are from this series. Not sure what he's up to these days...

Hi David, is an out gay guy, scottish appeared on BBC Tv Tinsel town...an excellent show and Holby City..ain't been on our screens for ages though, he is hot!!
As Dale noted in my Slap of Will Fennel, since I was Slapping the Aussie version of Kyan Douglas, I really should Slap Kyan Douglas. And since he was by far my favorite of the Fab 5, I wholeheartedly agree. So here he is, Kyan Douglas.
As I said, Kyan is (was?) by far my favorite of the Queer Eye guys. I don't watch the show much any more. But he was by far the sexiest to my mind. Just the right amount of chest hair and that gorgeous body. And he was usually the only one who'd take his shirt off.
Unfortunately, there aren't, as far as I can tell, a lot of good pics of Kyan out there on the web. I was able to find a video of him with his shirt off, so I got some very low quality screen caps, but they're better than nothing! Enjoy!!
Nice -- very flexible -- slap! Those last few pictures have convinced me its time to take up yoga!

As cute, sexy, and lovable as they come! When I heard he was dating Robert Gant I had all kinds of fantasies of a three-way. Three guesses on who the third person was . . .and the first two don't count unless you guess "me" right off the bat. Thanks for an adorable slap. I'll be back to look at these pics several times.

I liked all of the QE guys. Carson has an unparalleled intelligence and fast wit (plus he's a hoot to watch), and I thought the designer and food expert had the best advice (i.e. advice that I could actually use in my life). I liked the personal warmth of both the culture guy and of Kyan--but obviously Kyan is the sexiest one. With chest hair. Mmm mmm.

A straight female friend of mine saw him in person once and said he was breathtaking. She thought he was the most attractive man she had ever seen in her life. I won't dispute that!
OK, I know I've missed a day or two of Slaps, but don't worry, they'll be back today. I've had family in town and this morning I'm getting a reprieve.
But my real purpose here is to beg for your vote. You see, Robbie over at the Malcontent has me in his March Gayness tournament, and I'm up against what must surely be one of the top seeds, Ohlala Paris. So please go vote for me!
I'm a very emotionally needy person and will probably wilt like a flower left on a hot asphalt parking lot if I don't win.
Just kidding of course, but I'd still like to get some votes. So thanks!
Ever the fan of your blog (and the hot guys contained within!), I of course cast my vote today. Good news, Rob... you are up to 63%!!! Keep the good times rollin'!

I put in my vote! and what's with the "Hunk du Jour" site? sounds like a Daily Slap wannabe... There's only one, and that's The Daily Slap, baby! :)
OK, I'm not 100% clear on the details of this, but it sounds pretty good. From what I can tell, Factory Magazine is putting together the April issue featuring my favorite Slap, Jamie Bamber. And due to something or other, they have decided that if they get enough requests (at least 1000), they're going to print a special issue with Jamie on the cover! And Factory magazine isn't generally available to the public anyway, so this is a double bonus opportunity.
But to sum up, if you're interested, you just need to send an e-mail to bambernews (at) gmail (dot) com, with your e-mail address, your name and how many copies you want. It appears that the copies will cost approximately $10. And there may be a poster available too.
So I've already signed up for a copy. And I know there's at least one other person, somewhere in Brazil who feels the same way I do, so I hope he or she will sign up for an issue. And anyone else who thinks Jamie is just amazing! Hopefully we can get to 1000 requests!
Oh, and, you need to get your request in by 11:59 on Saturday, so hurry!
How did we get so side-tracked on American Idol and loose SIGHT [so to speak :) ] of the beautiful shirtless men we all love to drool over? Still love the sight and all you do Rob!

Idol
I'm ashamed to say that Vince sent this to me nearly right after the performances this week, but I was so exhausted that I couldn't get them posted. And I have family in town right now, so I wasn't able to post yesterday. But I did want to post Vince's thoughts, just in case someone hasn't seen the results show yet:
----------
Well, it was nice to see Diana Ross sober tonight.
BRANDON ROGERS - Can't Hurry Love Let the trimming begin!! First, it was Sanjaya's eyebrows, then it was Sundance's goatee and now it's Brandon's chest. His rug seems to have been trimmed this week. As for his performance, that too was trimmed down. I felt he impersonated Smokey Robinson with his performance tonight.
MELINDA DOOLITTLE - Home She definitely feels at home on that stage, as she should. She commands the genre and she commands the audience's attention. A star is born! Let's hope her popularity is as strong as her talent.
CHRIS SLIGH - Endless love He made this classic sound endless. The song was unrecognizable just like himself without those trademark glasses. Hopefully he can "rearrange" himself for next week.
GINA GLOCKSEN - Love Child I've got no love for this child and no love for her performance, but she did help put one rumor to rest. Between her looks and her outfit, I guess Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson did have a child together after all.
SANJAYA MALAKAR - Ain't No Mountain High Enough Oh boooyyyy!!! Where do I start? First off, he made Drag Queens look like supermodels tonight. He was competing with Ms. Ross on who had the biggest hair and the dancing, oh God the dancing!! Was he constipated? As for the singing. Where was it? The song and this competition are too big for him, except of course for the hair.
HALEY SCARNATO - Missing You This girl is the Titanic of emotions. She's always drowning in her own tears. She cries better than her singing. She could always go into acting. I see her in soaps. She is going to get the sympathy vote tonight.
PHIL STACEY - I'm Gonna Make You Love Me You know what? He made me love him a little more tonight. He was more confident, less nervous and it showed.
LAKESHA JONES (KIKI) - God Bless the Child God Bless this child for having that voice. Not only was she blessed with talent, but with grace, humility and beautiful curves!! You go girl!!!
BLAKE LEWIS - You Keep Me Hanging On This guy keeps us hanging on week after week to see his groovy dance moves, his unique vocal performance and his crazy arrangements. He is original and fun. I personally thoought he did a better job than Chris did with the arrangements of the song.
STEPHANIE EDWARDS - Love Hangover No hangover here! In fact, not even a buzz! Her performance was as potent as a Shirley Temple. She sang well, but it was forgettable.
CHRIS RICHARDSON - The Boss I totally agree with Simon on this one. The performance wasn't great, but he has such personality and charm that it overshadows it.
JORDIN SPARKS - If We Hold On Together Her performance reminded me of 2 artists who were introduced to the American public by singing a song from a movie and made me pay attention the first time I heard them, just like Jordin did tonight. Those artists were Christina Aguilera with Reflection from the movie Mulan and Celine Dion with Beauty and the Beast from the movie with the same title. Fantastic!!
Once again, I hope this is the end of the road for Sanjaya.
Is it me or does this Chris guy look high? He ALWAYS looked high or stoned. Does AI do drug testing? I also hate the fact that a lot of the guys adapt this "street" kind of performance, like they've seen one two many hip hop videos, every year there are a couple of guys that do this. It's annoying. Guys make it your own. Beyond that, the guys simply suck this year. But the girls are great!

Twelve little Idols
Brandon I was worried when I saw Brandon talking with Diana Ross, and he sang a bar or two of "You Can't Hurry Love". It was totally uninspired, and that carried over into his performance tonight. I agree with Simon completely - there was nothing to recommend the performance. He has a nice voice, but really, what else is there? B-.
Melinda This one should be a show stopper. Seriously, you guys. My mom said she doesn't believe Melinda's whole "Who me?" act, but I think I do - I think she's very truly surprised at being where she is. Here we go. I can already see that this performance is way more committed than Brandon's. This isn't the normal upbeat, fun performance she is so good at, but she really can put it together. And this performance is original, not the warmed over nonsense that Brandon pulled. I think that performance is a winner. A.
Chris Sligh Wow, Chris is right - he and Diana have the same damn hair. Is that a good thing? It seems like this could be a good song choice for Chris; I think he can deliver it. Let's see. Eep. Just a skosh pitchy at the start. And honestly, the first 10 bars suck: Boring boring boring. He better bring it soon. He's got the pitch back on track, and it seems like he's settling into the performance. But it's a terrible arrangement. Overall, snooze. C+.
Gina [SIDEBAR]Um. Diana, the word is not "pronunciate", it's "pronounce".[/SIDEBAR] Gina's sounding OK after the first few bars. Could she be better, probably; but this is fundamentally a choice of song that suits her. But not a terribly interesting performance - it'll get by, but we need more. B-.
Sanjaya I will say this, Sanjaya seems like a really nice guy. But he is not a good performer. But I do hope he can do more this week than in hist past few tries. So let's see! Oh lord, WTF is with his hair?? Poor thing! He needs a new stylist. But on to the singing, or lack thereof. This is not getting the job done. Indicated. Quiet. Boring. Hell, the background singers are way more interesting. But I'm betting he's with us for another week. Although Simon doesn't need to be quite so rude. I appreciate his honesty, but the rudeness is not necessary. D.
Haley My husband got Haley right - he saw her and said, "Who is this? Have we ever seen her before?" Exactly. She is completely forgettable. She's very cute, but eh? So let's see if she can bring something tonight. Jeez, honey, we need some volume. Oh god, this performance isn't forgettable at all - it's terrible. Yikes, it's completely schizophrenic and icky. Gosh, I don't even know what score to put here. Bad bad bad. Was Simon on Mars for this performance? It wasn't that bad? He's trying to fuck her. D+.
Phil OK, everyone knows that Phil isn't my favorite. I'm not the least bit convinced that he'll do a good job here. So would anyone be offended if I come back for the next person? OK, I'll make this comment: Terrible. D.
LaKisha As much as I dislike Phil, I like LaKisha. And we know she can bring the performance home, so here we go. Diana's looking forward to this, and so am I. OK, Diana recommended a mic stand, and LaKisha went without - is that a flinch? The good thing, however, is that she was thinking about the performance very carefully, and the fact that she went without the stand is probably very carefully considered. And she has an amazing voice. And Randy makes a good point, her voice is huge, and she's able to really get it out without overdoing it. I think that was a really good performance. A/A-.
Blake Oh boy! This should be a lot of fun. I really hope he brings his beat box skills to this, it could really be a hoot. This is gonna be a tough one, but I think Blake can get it done. His voice doesn't shine as one of the best, but his performances are always more interesting than most. And he definitely made this arrangement his own. It's a tough genre for Blake, but I think it was good. Not outta the park, but certainly good enough to stick around. B+.
Stephanie She sounds better than I remember recently. She really does have a very talented voice. It didn't seem like the most involved performance to me, but better than most of the other things tonight. She was outsung by LaKisha and Melinda - but so was everyone else. B.
Chris Richardson YAY! My favorite! I think. We'll see how he does tonight, but I think he's gonna nail it. That was quite a nellie entrance, frankly. But it's all good. And hell - so far so fucking good on this performance! I think he's doing much better with his arrangement than Blake did. I worry about his voice sometimes - it certainly doesn't have Melinda's or LaKisha's power, but he has a good tone. And he is always committed and seems to have a great time on stage. I have to disagree with Randy - he didn't overdo it at all. No way. Paula got it right - he struck just the right balance of old & new. And I can't agree with Simon - I don't think this genre is Chris' strength, but I think he did a nice job. B+.
Jordin I really don't have a strong opinion about Jordin. She's really neither here nor there for me. She has a nice enough voice, but again, I'm kinda underwhelmed. B.
You know I have to say I really think that this year is much weaker than other years. To me, nobody is a standout except Melinda and LaKisha. I really like Chris and Blake, but they can't really compete with M&L. It's very clear that Melinda and LaKisha should be in the final two in May -- I'm sure it won't happen, but we'll see!
LaKisha reminds me of the Mandisa situation last year... the latter having an equally great voice but who met an early demise. That Kiki did well tonight, as did Jordin and Melinda. I loved the "pronunciate" thing -- even a diva can't pull that off. I'm muttering to myself, "it's either pronounce OR annunciate!" God bless that Diana. This year's talent notwithstanding, I'm still WAY too interested in AI and should probably have my head examined. :)
The word Ms. Ross was attempting to use was "enunciate"- pronounce words clearly. "Annunciate" refers to the proclamation of a coming event as in to Mary by the Angel of the coming of Christ. One may pronounce a word- utter a word in a certain way, pronunciation being the standard way of speaking a word. It's all very confusing anyway, I had to look this up in the Oxford Dictionary. Anyway I thought the whole Simon-Ryan "come out of the closet" tiff will be the lead story on the Net and Entertainment shows.

All I can hope for is that Sanjaya does not make the top 10. Can you imagine paying to see the AI Tour, and having to hear THAT voice? I have been reading other blogs about AI today, and most hated Blake's performance. I am with you.. I thought it was good. I'm glad Phil isn't your favorite, so you won't hate me when I say this... last night, with those dark circles under his eyes, all I could think of was Uncle Fester.

As an amateur vocalist who has auditioned for and performed in many community-based vocal groups over the years(Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus, OurSong - the Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chorus), I am wondering why the Idol judges don't place more emphasis on good diction. It is " dont' you" , NOT "done-chew", as one word. Horrid. OK - so I'm a musical purist and an admirer of perfect diction.

...Oh lord, WTF is with his hair?? Poor thing! He needs a new stylist...
I love it!!! I thought he was wearing a wig last night and almost cracked my head open on the coffe table as I fell over laughing. Stylist? He just needs a mirror.
As for being rude....I love when Simon is a bitch, it makes the show great. I'm already interested, but when Simon goes off I just love it. I particularly loved when he told Seacrest Out to come out of the closet. Poor, poor, Seacrest Out...I believe he's straight about as much as I believe he is a centimeter over 5'5"
Back to what I was here for: I think Sanjaya is total crap, but I voted for him and will continue to vote for him because I want to punish American Idol for even letting him go through to begin with. He should've been gonesville with his sister.

I find Sanjaya quite beautiful, and damn the haters. There seems to be some gender trouble when it comes to Sanjaya; he has got to be one of the most sincerely feminine men ever on TV, and it's a girly (vs. womanly) femininity. I'm sure he hasn't been treated well by his peers growing up. I think he has a shot at another reality show: America's Next Top Model. He has Jaeda's jaw and similar features to Coryn (maybe it's just the eyebrows though).
Towleroad had news this morning - and Snarf was kind enough to alert me too - that former Days of our Lives star Eric Winter had been cast to play Rob Lowe's brother on one of my favorite shows this season, Brothers & Sisters.
You may remember that Rob Lowe is busy playing one of the most liberal fire-breathing conservatives you've ever come across. Not that there aren't conservatives who share his views, just that they're as rare as hen's teeth. Regardless, Rob looks good doing it, and clearly good genes run in his TV family.
This isn't really a spoiler, but just in case, you know... Anyway, you may remember that Senator Lowe (OK, McCallister...) mentioned that he has a gay brother. Well, presumably this is he. And according to Andy: "Kitty initially mistakes him for being one of the senator's frat brothers. When the truth comes out, she immediately fixes him up with Kevin -- to disastrous results." Sounds good - I can't wait to see this guy kissing Matthew Rhys. Fingers crossed!
Very pretty, yes, but all those pics of him shirtless and I feel no tingle. Nada. Zip. Oh well, I pretty much have always felt that way about Rob Lowe too, so I guess its good casting. To me there's such a thing as too pretty I suppose.

I haven't even made the jump yet and I'm wondering if you mean Rob Lowe's GAY brother. Do you think this means Jason Lewis will be replaced as Matthew Rhys' lover? Like this family doesn't have a wierd enough dynamic! (Remember the stories of how half the brothers and sisters spent time in the tree house with an unseen blond boy?) God, I love this show!

Today's Slap goes to an actor I can't believe I've overlooked until now. And even more shockingly, I've never, as far as I can tell, received a request for Viggo Mortensen. As I've mentioned before, I don't always manage to keep track of all the requests I get, so if I missed your request for this hottie let me know.
Anyway, Viggo Mortensen is best known for playing Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and looking oh-so scruffy and butch doing it...
Some of the pics after the jump are better than others, but Viggo is one of those nearly ideal guys - just the right amount of fur, if he doesn't shave it. Unfortunately, the couple of caps I have with fur are pretty low quality, but you get the idea.
I like him, but never thought he was cute. I don't care for the ass-chin and he always seems so greasy. However, nice bod, nice genitals and I will cry everytime he lets that horse go in Hildalgo. DD

This is one man I'd like to get down and dirty with. Not incredibly handsome nor the perfect body, but I do believe he would be a lot of fun!
Today's Slap goes out to one of my long time favorites, actor William McNamara. I've liked Billy ever since he starred as Billy Wyatt in Stealing Home.
He also starred as a bit of a tortured gay teen with a psychotic family in Doing Time on Maple Drive; as a ski instructor playing Santa Claus in Aspen Extreme; and as a military policeman (I think), who for some reason that I currently can't recall, ends up naked running around somewhere and shows us just a bit of a frontal as he tumbles naked through a window. After the jump.
William seems to work quite a bit, but has never had a really big hit. Normally I'd blame that on him being a shitty actor, but I don't think he is. Then again, I may be focusing too much on how cute he is - I've been known to do that.
William's look is just fantastic - he has that perfect preppy look that I had a crush on throughout high school and college. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
Update 3/12/2007: Richard was kind enough to send along an extra pic of Billy that's really nice, and I just had to pull this from the comments:
--------- Talking about Billy's UFO interest, Dave said: Personally, I might be convinced to travel 80 billion light years for the promise of a little "probing" with this guy.
Please do consider...if you've slapped these hunks of men already, my apologies. But, if you haven't, these guys, especially the last two, are pretty SLAP worthy.

He also had a small but decent role in a crime thriller called "Copy Cat". (at least I think it was him - I haven't verified that) He plays the minion of an imprisoned serial killer, bent on recreating his "mentor's" violent crimes. Part of which takes place in a gay bar, with him trying to seduce a guy so he can kill him. (I won't tell you whether or not he succeeds.) Entertaining movie.

Ding dong! The house is gone!
We sold our last "spare" house yesterday, and spent the last 48 hours or so cleaning out what we wanted to save. The good news is that house is being scraped and re-built, so we got permission to leave behind some trash. Here, then, is what we left behind. Would that we could have left more...
Looking at the top three pictures words like "vacant", "dispensable", and "unwanted" come to mind -- the exact words that come to mind when considering recent Slap Ryan Seacrest! I'm still slightly nauseous. At least you provided Jonathan Tucker as a kind of yummy palate cleanser.

To say this house has "lost that lovin' feeling" is like saying Anna Nicole had a "semi-nice rack." I'm pretty sure I stayed there and I'm just so... saddened. :) congrats on moving on, and PS: I LOVE that headline! cheers to ditching the digs... Juicy.
Today's Slap has to be one of the most requested guys ever. There are probably guys for whom I've received more e-mails, but the ones for Jonathan Tucker - from Mark, Michael, Randal and someone anonymous - seemed to arrive within 15 minutes of each other - my guess is roughly 10 seconds after he appeared soaking wet, clad only in tighty whities, in his current show The Black Donnellys. And hell, I probably missed one or two of the requests.
Honestly, I'd never even heard of The Black Donnellys until I got those requests. But the pics of him in his underwear, washing himself with the hose (after the jump) are amazing. What an incredible body!! But who can tell us anything about The Black Donnellys? What the hell is it even about?
I'd heard of Jonathan before from his role as a gay teen in The Deep End - that's where the pics of him with another guy are from, if I'm not mistaken.
The Black Donnleys is NBC's answer to the Sopraano's except it's about four young thugs of Irish decent. Has he ever developed (nicely I might add) since he did The Deep End - up Abs & away!

The real Black Donnellys story is famous in Canada, and is the true story of the murder, in the 1880's, of a family in Lucan in south-western Ontario. The Donnellys were hated because they, supposedly, were the perpetrators of numerous crimes in the area. One night, a group of vigilantes wiped out most of the family. No one was ever convicted of the multiple murders. Several Canadian books and plays have been written about these events.

All the Donnelly brothers have been on various episodes of Law and Order. Jonathan Tucker played the gay son of a focus-on-the-family type murderous father. Another really good gay friendly episode. Billy Lush, "Kevin Donnelly" was so good, he was on Law and Order Criminal Intent 3 times as the same character. Rarely done on that show. He's the cutie in some of the pictures above with Jonathan Tucker. I've watched The Black Donnellys a few times, its not a bad show, very violent, but not a bad show. I think it's going to get better and better.

Good afternoon. If God had wanted us to vote, he would have given us candidates. Help me! Please help find sites for: Safe moving company. I found only this - atnea moving company. Moving company, frank then wanted claiming professional. Moving company, work calls a silver drug in packing environment of finance. Thank you very much . Alcott from Republic.
Since we've been talking so much about American Idol lately, I figured we'd take a request from Lloyd who asked that I Slap the host of Idol, Ryan Seacrest.
I have to admit I was torn about ole Ryan here. I definitely think he has a hottie thing going on, but god can he be annoying sometimes. Those little games he plays with Simon just work my last nerve sometimes. But cute won out over annoying (he's not a snotty prick, after all) and I decided to give him a go.
I was especially glad to do it when I found what looks like a genuine full frontal of him walking on a nude beach. Is it genuine? I think so, but I'll admit that I'm no expert. I also found a number of shirtless shots, but they are of widely varying quality due to being captured from various videos that weren't high quality to begin with.
Update 3/11/2007: Dave said (regarding my pile of trash): Looking at the top three pictures words like "vacant", "dispensable", and "unwanted" come to mind -- the exact words that come to mind when considering recent Slap Ryan Seacrest! I'm still slightly nauseous.
Hmmm. Comparing Ryan Seacrest to a pile of trash? Isn't that a bit harsh?
UGH!!! "Snotty prick" completely trumps any cuteness factor in the case of the major jerk-off! He's one of a handful of reasons I've been able to stomach a complete episode of American Idol. I'm throwing this stinky fish back and hoping to snag something much better! lol

Snotty prick? WTF? I don't get that AT ALL from him. From what I've seen on Idol he seems like genuinely nice guy. And even though he's completely not my type, I think he's a little cutie. Go on and make your millions, Ryan. Deserved.

On the show, he and Cowell have an annoying habit of alluding to each other's sexual preferences. The recurring snide banter is a complete turn-off. This kind of sniggering about "being gay" is juvenile, verging on homophobia and should disqualify him from being featured on a site like this.

While I think Ryan is very attractive I think he high overrated as an on air talent. I can also tell you, from personal experience that he is, indeed a snotty prick.
I volunteer for the Center for the Disabled in Albany and they do a charity telethon each year. The first year it moved to the local FOX station there, they thought they hit pay dirt when they got Ryan to come up and host. He was rude and afraid of the disabled kids, was hard to work with and they raised less money than before.
So when I saw his little " Simon and I go to Africa " bit, I didn't buy it for a second. I think Simon is sincere (because he is so damn honest) but Ryan is a pretty boy with limited between the ears or in his soul.

...back to No. 1 on the Official Google Snotty Prick Results Derby (OGSPRD for short)!! Maybe this comment will just add fuel to the fire? I totally agree about Seacrest -- he moves the show along, but sometimes I just want to shove a sock in his mouth so he'll shut up. He and Simon spend too much time trying to out-straight each other and it gets way old. I still think he's seriously yummy, despite ongoing verbal diarrhea. :0)

The girls: A la Vince
Vince sent along his comments about Idol again - and he seems to agree with me: Antonella and Haley need to go. Now.
--------------------------
Big difference between the girls and the guys from the very first performance tonight. The girls can really blow and the guys really suck. There's a Porno movie waiting to happen.
JORDIN SPARKS Touch down! The girl went long and surpassed the end zone. Fun performance and a little edgy for this Mickey Mouse Club Act.
SABRINA SLOAN It was a good performance, but definitely not her best. It seemed like this pussycat was domesticated into a cute kitten when we know she can be a raging tiger.
ANTONELLA BARBA She's on the wrong reality show. She should be on a show called The Making of a Pop Tart where you're judged on looks, your dance moves and singing would be a plus. The perfect celebrity judge would be Britney Spears.
HALEY SCARNATO Not a pop darling, but she can definitely be a Broadway darling. I'm thinking Sweet Charity.
STEPHANIE EDWARDS She's giving me the same feeling I had when I first saw and heard Whitney or Mariah perform live, you just felt captivated and you knew that they would be around for a while.
LAKISHA JONES This performance should be a reminder to Whitney Houston of what she once was and what she has the potential to once again be. Whitney should be looking up to this Idol.
GINA GLOCKSEN Call me when you're off the show. Although this is more her style, I do not like this girl, she just rubs me the wrong way. I will say though that she deserves to be in the top 12...and subsequently voted off after the first night.
MELINDA DOOLITTLE She's got Jennifer Holiday's voice, Mary J Blige's moves and Chaka Khan's passion. She is definitely a confident W-O-M-A-N!!
I think and I hope that this is the end of the road for Antonella and Haley.
Ok, can I just ask: Haley over Sabrina? Sanjaya still in? What the hell is America thinking???

The girls bring it!
Jordin Sparks Oh god. Football? I guess she's my husband's new favorite woman. But girlfriend - you are NOT Pat Benatar. This strikes me as a bad song choice. She does have an excellent vocal talent, so that's working in her favor. But still. Maybe I just don't like the song? Actually, as I watch, I think she's doing better - I still don't like the song, but she did do a great job.
Sabrina Sloan Jeez. I'm having trouble understanding the words. And christ this is pitchy. But as TJ noted, she's definitely HOT. And I loved her little vignette pretending to be Katic Couric. Not a very engaging song really, but she certainly showed off her skills. I do think Simon is right - it's too mechanical.
Antonella Boobie Barba Violin, huh? And she teaches lessons? Hmmm. Oh lord, this is terrible. It's not showing off her voice, or her personality. TJ thinks she's as bad as Sanjaya - I don't think it's nearly so awful, but she really needs to go. That was just boring.
Haley Scarnato I think the start of the song was pure "hotel performer", as Simon criticized Sabrina. But the second 1/2 is getting better. She's trying to show off her voice, but the song isn't quite supporting that. I think she can probably do better, but that is probably enough to keep her around. Hmm. "No yo." OK, I'll buy that. I don't think it was horrible, as Simon called it, but I think he's right - she's terribly forgettable.
Stephanie Edwards Now this is a performance. And she always looks so good. And wow what a voice! I think she's really stepped it up this week. She's missed a note or two, I think, but overall a fantastic performance. I think Stephanie is a slam dunk for the top 12. Randy compared her unfavorably to the original artist - I have no ability to do that, so I can't say for sure. Interesting that Simon phrased it as "copycat" - that's definitely a significant weakness.
LaKisha Jones I'm glad she didn't squeeze herself into some odd looking jeans skirt and bright red top this week - that was tragic. In this outfit you can focus on her, her voice, and her performance. Or, I should say, her VOICE. I think that was a VERY tough song to sing - who can compare favorably to Whitney? But it really was the best of the night so far. LaKisha should be in the top 4 before she has a significant challenge.
Gina Glocksen I have to confess, Gina is not my favorite girl. And I'm not gonna like this song, but let's see how she does. The whole thing was just too yelly for me. Randy seems to have liked her - I guess my dislike is more about the song itself than Gina. I imagine she's pretty safely into the top 12.
Melinda Doolittle That was a funny little bit about her OCD. I really like her. And this is gonna be a GOOD performance, I bet. Oh yeah. Homerun, I think. What a fucking incredible voice. And every moment of her performances is always fully involved. I think that performance KILLED LaKisha. And like I said, she seems so nice!!!
Well, I have to say that tonight was MUCH better than last night. The guys just don't stand up well to the girls as a whole.
As for who's going home? It should be Antonella and Haley. Will it? That's a tough call - they're both very attractive and might be able to hang in because of that. As always, check DialIdol.com for predictions!
Doug said: I dont understand this DialIdol site...how can ALL of the guys be predicted to be voted off? It seems last year the site actually MADE predictions...this year its really just a waste of web space...
Doug does make a good point - it's frustrating to see DialIdol predicting that everyone has an equal chance of being booted, but I guess everyone falls within the margin of error. I wonder if the Idol producers changed their phone system this year (added more lines?) to reduce the effectiveness of DialIdol?
Can we just send everyone home except Melinda, Stephanie, and Lakisha? They are the only three who bring it every week.

Let's leave the girls to the straights and deal with more relevant matters.
Well, I really thought Brody Jenner ought to have some competition this month - he's certainly nice to look at, but by all accounts he's a flaming asshole. So Dan wrote to suggest Will Fennell, and I think he's got enough going on to give Brody a run for his money.
Will is apparently the grooming expert (think Kyan Douglas) for the Aussie version of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. He also had a very nice photo shoot in DNA Magazine some time back.
Unfortunately, I can't find an IMDb entry for him, so I don't have much other info, but I can say this - I think he's got a big Nick Beyeler vibe going on, and I think we may have an early front runner for Slap of the Month.
That ninth pic, in which he's showing his (hot) pit, is so incredibly vivid and sexy that I feel like I can actually feel that fur on his pecs. OH, to dream....
Fuck, he is fine.

Every single thing about this man just drips with sex. The only problem I can see with him is that he isn't here with me.
I get the impression he's a bit of an arrogant guy too... struts around the party scene as if he's god's gift. Just because he was on our version of queer eye which got axed after 3 episodes. hardly a claim to fame.
I have to apologize for not posting my American Idol thoughts last night, but I was completely exhausted. I seem to be burning the candle at both ends lately and it's wearing me out.
With that said, I will say that I really enjoyed Blake's performance, and I thought Chris sounded a bit thready, but overall gave a good performance.
I didn't really care for Sundance's performance - for the same reasons Brian gave. It was just so much screaming in places. And Sanjaya, again, was the weakest of the bunch, but I'm sure he'll hang around. So this week, I'm betting on Phil & Jared to be the losers.
Honestly nobody else even made much of an impression on my exhausted brain.
So, to bail me out, Vince sent along his thoughts that I'm happy to share with everyone:
--------------------------
BLAKE LEWIS This guy is a star! Besides being hot, he's talented, funny and stylish. This guy defines the meaning of unique. Great performance! Yah man!
SANJAYA MALAKAR First off, he's got no booty to shake. Secondly, I'd like to take him by the shoulders and shake a personality out of him. Thirdly, his performance was terrible. He's not into the song and I think he can't wait for it to be over. Finally the new look only works for Hilary Duff.
SUNDANCE HEAD The fat suit must have prevented him from turning in a good performance tonight. I think it was the wrong song choice for him.
CHRIS RICHARDSON With or without the extra 40 pounds, this guy's charm could win anybody over. Although his performance was a little safe tonight, it was a different side of Chris, but always a good one nonetheless.
JARED COTTER Yes we do, we really love ya!, despite what the judges think. It was nice to see him sing an uptempo diddy.
BRANDON ROGERS I want to celebrate the fact that I think he knocked his performance out of the park. This guy could sing from the phone book and make it sound great.
PHIL STACEY This guy needs to stop sucking up to the judges and concentrate on getting the public's vote. His performance tonight was all over the place. He started off shaky and shouted the rest of the song.
CHRIS SLIGH I think he gave the best performance of the night and he definitely earned my love and respect.
I think Sanjaya definitely needs to go and Phil Stacey as well.
Last night I couldn't hold back a laugh. I imagined Sanjaya spending hours in front of a dressing room mirror, straightening his hair with that big grin on his face. If he ends up safe, maybe he'd help Chris Sligh straighten his hair for next week's show, just for fun.

I had high hopes for Sundance...too bad he isn't doing that great. As for Jared, he is too cocky without anything to back it up with...I can't stand to watch him perform.

2007-03-07 - 20:25
I agree with J Man.. what is up with Jared? His voice is ok, but his ego is out of this galaxy. Rubbing his hand across his face??? But Blake was good, as always.
Requests for today's Slap go all the way back to the summer of 2005, when Brody Jenner was starring in The Princes of Malibu, and Brian wrote to request that I Slap both Brody and his brother Brian. Well, obviously I never got around to that, but surfing around I found some pics of a shirtless Brody that are simply amazing. And apparently, Peter and some anonymous commenter noticed the pics too, because they both made requests to see Brody Slapped.
As for the pics, the shirtless ones really are outstanding - except for the fact that he has his name tattooed down the side of his torso. What kind of jackass does that?? I think this guy is probably the very definition of a mimbo. But as the definition implies, he's pretty to look at.
He's not the brightest bulb in the string, but he is hot. And his chest hair is wonderful.

According to my investigation, thousands of persons in the world get the loans from various banks. So, there's a good possibility to receive a commercial loan in any country.
Bill wrote a bit ago to request that I Slap James Roday, saying:
He's a cutie on the stupidest show I've seen in years, "Psych".
Well, I can't say that I've seen Psych to comment on its stupidity or lack thereof, but I think I have enough evidence to agree that James Roday is, in fact, a "cutie". I wish I had more pics as evidence, but there are some nice shirtless pics after the jump.
James was also in The Dukes of Hazzard and at least some of the skin shots come from his stint on Miss Match - another show that, frankly, sounds stupid.
James really does look cute, especially with a little bit of scruff, and it looks like he has quite a nice body, even if you can't see all of it. Nevertheless, I'd do him...
I agree - not quite a hottie, but a definite cutie. I suppose, like always, a bit o' fur would make the difference, but I certainly wouldn't kick him outta bed. Thanks, Rob!

Loved Miss Match. Love Psych. It's mindless fun. It's Murder She Wrote for 20-something men. James Roday was on my radio show last month and he is pretty much exactly like his character. Sardonic and mildly annoying. But he is cute.
I think he is so freaking cute! and he has the same Birthday as me!!!! :) I just love him in Psych

How do you sleep?
Reading Boing Boing today, I came across a link to a site called SleepNaked.org that appears to be one man's solo campaign to encourage the world to sleep naked.
Not only is sleeping naked more comfortable, but it's good for your health too. ... If you sleep with a partner, being naked heightens the level of intimacy between you, and you are likely to have sex more often. ... Sleeping naked allows your body to relax more immediately, and you are more likely to fall into a deeper sleep more quickly and wake up refreshed.
Hmmm... Interesting thing to operate an entire web site about. But I guess it's no worse than admiring hot guys... Of course, as Cory Doctorow on Boing Boing notes:
I hadn't realized that there were people who chose to sleep otherwise these days, but I guess the sinister forces of Big Pyjamas aren't to be underestimated.
So, since the Slap of the Month voting is all wrapped up, let's have another poll...
What do you wear to sleep?
Oh, one more thing...
If you're trying to "cure" your gayness, sleeping naked is simply not an option:
The house rules at Refuge include ... sleeping in "full pajamas (tops and bottoms) or a pair of non-underwear-type shorts and a T-shirt. Nightgowns are not allowed."
Good to know.

This is one of those surveys where one answer doesn't work for me. I sleep naked in the spring and summer, but in the winter it is too cold in my apartment so I bundle up with a sweatshirt and sweatpants. Ideally, though, I'd be naked all the time. When my boyfriend stays over, we sleep naked, of course, regardless of the season. He helps me stay warm.
I'm with David. Up here in the frozen north, it just isn't possible to sleep while shivering through a winter night. Summertime, though, it's all about sleeping naked.

It starts with pajamas - they ride up and twist and cramp your balls and arm pits!; underwear - Do you sleep in the same ones you wore all day or wear the ones you slept in all night?; that leaves naked. There's nothing like slipping into a cold set of sheets and feeling every nerve in your skin becoming super sensative.

I sleep with just a t shirt on. I like to keep my boys free. Even in the winter i just add comforters to keep cossie. But the T keeps my shoulders warm.

My answer was none of the above - just boxers or (in winter) boxers and pants. No shirt. Only worthwhile sleeping naked if you have someone next to you - unfortunately, not the case for me now :( (yet!)

I would have thought that if you're cold in bed that either it's time for a new (or an extra!) companion, or you need more / warmer bed-linen. A duvet (what do you call that in the US, a comforter?) filled with wool or down / feathers is much better than synthetic.

February's Slap of the Month - Brandon Volz!
Category:
The Daily Slap
I am pleased to announce the winner of February's Slap of the Month voting, Brandon Volz:
And the runner up is our very own out actor, Chad Allen. And allow me to reiterate here that if you haven't seen Chad in his Donald Strachey movies, you really should:
Honorable mention goes to Shane Keough, from The Real Housewives of Orange County. Remember him? The one whose mom thinks is gay?
Neither one of those 2 is a surprise. Brandon is one of the hottest ever. Does anyone know if he is gay or straight? I was going to watch Gay, Straight or Taken? because he was supposed to be on, but one episode was more than I could stomach.

We watched Chad Allen's first Donald Strachey mystery, Third Man Out, this weekend. We expected it to be cheesy, but it was excellent--good acting (especially Allen), and one of the best (most realistic)depictions of gay coupledom I've seen.

i've known brandon for a decade and hes straight and taken -and smokin hot
from all the notable hot guys from Sex and the City, you haven't slapped John Corbett that played Aidan Shaw on the show! Though lacking in the hairiness, the guy is absolute perfection, plus a so sweet look on his face! You need to do this for us!
Well, hog tie me and dip me in butter - Lloyd's right! I'm not sure how I missed him, but there you have it. So today's victim is John Corbett, most notably (at least to this crowd, I imagine) of Sex & the City.
As for John himself, there's always been something appealing about him - he's a skootch too "mushy" to fall within my normal range of attraction, but there's something that gets him through the gate anyway. I think it's the hair, and the slightly scruffy look, and the ultra-casual attitude that I really like, and they cancel out his "mushiness".
Sexy? Sure, but so... NICE. We're talking sweet tooth, diabetic coma, sugar frosted nice. Then again, any guy who can keep Bo Derick on his arm for as long as he has, must have a little hidden spice.

Thanks again!

I like him better with longer hair...I think it suits him better, IMO.
I am very pleased to be able to share these pictures with you. Naomi was kind enough to refer me to these fabulous new pictures of Jamie Bamber. Apparently, they're from a new issue of People? Guess it's time to head to the newsstand.
Very hot!!! He was recently on Ghost Whisperer, and I thought he was hot there.. but nothing like these. Yum!

What's annoying is that when he was given the cover of OUT magazine and pics inside, the most he would do was to open his shirt a little bit, but for PEOPLE magazine he's fine with doing just about anything short of dropping trou. What bullshit! Our "gay icons" don't mind our adultation and the publicity it brings them, but they won't play directly to us.

Bamberama is back! yay... now I have to rent the past episodes of BG to catch up. he most definitely a TSH ( for those playing at home: traffic-stopping hottie).
Doug from Velvet Candy Entertainment wrote to give me a heads up on their new film, Socket, the first "gay sci-fi thriller". They just released the trailer for the movie:
Looks like fun to me - and I see at least a couple of hotties floating around in there. And as you know, I'm a bit of a sci-fi geek, so this should be right up my alley.
Looks terrible....like most gay movies. And I love sci-fi and being gay.

Dear "Anonymous", As the filmmakers behind SOCKET we respect your right to have an opinion about our trailer. But we question what you find so "terrible" about it. We went to great lengths to make this film NOT like most gay movies. We have posted this trailer online and after over 2000 viewings (in just a few days), yours is the first negative comment we've gotten. We find it odd that a gay sci-fi fan would condemn our project so blatantly when it's been embraced already by many genre film lovers, some of whom are not even gay. We hope that you give our little movie more of a chance when it plays in your town, maybe perhaps your opinion will change after actually watching it. Also - thanks for the support Socket_Fan and Yogi Bear! And of course love to Bent Blog for helping us promote our terrible little gay movie. :)
Velvet Candy: I think just maybe you're over-reacting to Anonymous' impression of the movie trailer. I thought the trailer made the movie look silly, but I don't typically take the time to post a critical comment. (Specifically, I thought the trailer made it look like electrical prongs magically emerge from people's wrists, and that made me shake my head.) In any event, I hope it's a big hit for the filmmakers.
Ed

2007-03-05 - 05:23
Hi Ed - Thanks for the comment and thanks for being specific about what you didn't like. We invite constructive feedback like yours. There's no magic involved in the SOCKET plot whatsoever. You'll see in the full-length film that the electrical prongs are a form of body modification. We think it's very realistically filmed and super creepy to boot. We also hope that the film is a big hit - thanks so much for supporting low-budget indie films from queer filmmakers!
1. My comment was anonymous because I don't need random people spamming me, hating me, etc. I respect others' differing opinions, please respect mine. I don't have to like this movie even if you do. And, I don't need to be a filmmaker to know what a good movie is.
2. We *have* seen shows like this before. There's Dante's Cove on Here! TV. That show is bad, too. And there all the David DeCoteau movies. Not good either.
3. Gay cinema has much to be desired. Movies like Latter Days, Broken Hearts Club really dissapoint. While they may be good conceptually, the writing and execution of these movies leave much to be deisred. They are often obvious and trite. I saw another movie recently called Quinceanera (made by queer filmmakers) and it was terrible. Apart from two good actors, the concept, writing and acting was awful, almost insulting (BTW: I'm also Mexican-American). Movies like Brokeback Mountain and Angels in America are examples of good "gay cinema" because of how well written, acted, etc. they are, but these types of movies are too few and far between. It is ok to say that gay movies can be bad. I want something to be proud of as a gay man. We are capable of so much more.
4. Ed is exatly right. The trailer did make the movie look silly. The prongs on peoples wrists, either magial or intentionally modified, looked silly. The acting didn't seem much better. And, yes, I haven't seen the whole movie. I do support indie films, gay or not. I keep renting the gay ones hoping that they'll be good.
5. I do have a question if Velvet Candy is still reading: Do you feel like labeling yourself as "low-budget indie queer filmmakers" pigeon-holes you too much? Why not just filmmaker?

JEEEEZ. "FILMMAKERS" NEED TO RELAX A LITTLE. SOOOO DEFENSIVE. IF THERE ARE SO MANY THAT THINK YOUR FILM LOOKS GOOD, WHY BE SO BOTHERED BY ONE UNFAVOURABLE REVIEW. I THINK IT LOOKS KINDA GOOFY AND THAT WOULD BE IT'S ATTRACTION FOR ME. IF IT WAS TOO FINELY POLISHED OR SERIOUS, IT WOULD HAVE TO STRONG A "WOULD BE IF IT COULD BE" QUALITY AND THAT'S JUST NOT ATTRACTIVE AT ALL. SEX IS MEANT TO BE A WHOLE LOT OF FUN AFTER ALL........ ISN'T IT?

Funny that both "Brokeback Mountain" and "Angels in America" are big-budget Hollywood productions with all-star casts made by straight men. They were both great, but films like "Quincenera" and "Edge of Seventeen" are great too - and they are indie queer films. I think "Dante's Cove" is a camp riot - "Socket" looks nothing like it. Too me "Socket" looks more like "Videodrome" or "Dead Ringers" ...and I kinda like that.

Well, Movie-Lover, I thought Trans-America was very good, and it wasn't a big budget Hollywood movie. And, I don't think the fact that having a "big-budget" or straight directors making movies like Brokeback and Angels takes away from how good they are. Basically it all comes down to good writing and good acting. Either the movie has it or it doesn't.

It looks pretty damn good - and very different. I don't think I've ever seen a film like that to combine a gay relationship as the fore-front relationship with a horror feel. I wanna see the whole film!
Nice pics! i really like the top one although I generally don't like the western slopes. The weather boys here showed how the entire state got dumped on. We in Colorado Springs got something I've never seen before, snow with thunder and lightening! Totally freaky. Did you guys get that in Aspen?
Sorry for the delay in getting this posted, but I've been on the road a lot in the past couple of days, including a very long trip around the mountains of Colorado during a snow storm. Yikes. Anyway, here's your cast of characters for February. I think it was a pretty strong month, including new "new Hannibal", Gaspard Ulliel; Jason Lewis, even if he is looking a skosh weathered; Matthew Rhys, Jason's boyfriend on Brothers & Sisters; and some full-frontal action from Michael Pitt. So, who do you think is deserving of the inestimable honor of Slap of the Month?
Got to agree with Alexendar. Some months it's hard to choose the best as there's so many great ones, this month I was struggling to find one great one. Opted with Jonny Wilkinson, for those thighs. But no stand out talent this month. There's always next month though...
Dimitri, Johnny, Ryk... Mmmmm. Sorry guys, this is a better month then often ;-)

Well, I voted for the South African whose name I'm too lazy to look for at the moment, and could easily have chosen Jason Lewis instead. Some months, it's nice not to have too much work to do. Seriously, thanks, Rob, for your efforts and attention.
Today's Slap comes courtesy of my husband - we watched Little Miss Sunshine recently, and he kept cooing about Greg Kinnear. As for me, I certainly think Greg is very handsome, but he just doesn't quite do it for me. I'm honestly worried about the reaction that old Greg here is gonna get, so if you like him Speak Up!!
Anyway, as I mentioned above, Greg played Little Miss' father in Little Miss Sunshine. He was also in As Good as it Gets with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt, for which he was nominated for an Oscar.
One of my favorite jobs for Greg, though, was as the host of Talk Soup for several years, before Hal Sparks, among others, took over the job.
Love him! He is the classic good looking guy next door type! And his hairy chest is just right!

I agree....he is a great looking guy and a hell of an actor. He has been working out regularly, and looks much better now. He had really great, tan legs in Little Miss Sunshine.
I last Slapped Ryan over two years ago, and I think this hottie has changed enough - and done enough! - to warrant a re-Slap.
This time you probably remember Ryan Gosling from the Oscars telecast, looking very dapper in his tuxedo. He was, of course, nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Leading Role for his role as a drug-addicted teacher in Half Nelson. There are a couple of blurry shots of Ryan in his tighty whities from Half Nelson after the jump.
Ryan's been in gobs of other things too. If you watched the Oscars, you may have seen a short clip of him in The All New Mickey Mouse Club. Then he had a quick turn as one of the kids on the dreadful Breaker High and spent a couple of years playing Young Hercules. Unfortunately, Hercules never seemed to need to take his shirt off.
He was also in Murder by Numbers with Sandra Bullock and former Slap Michael Pitt, and he was in The Notebook with Rachel McAdams. BTW, the naked (sorry no frontal) pics after the jump are from The Notebook.
He has several more projects currently in the works, and even though he didn't win the Oscar, I'm betting we'll see more of this nominee. I just hope he's comfortable with nudity...
Update 3/2/2007: D'oh! Everyone who pointed out in the comments is of course right - Ryan was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Not sure what I was thinking.
Oh how I love him, he's not the hottest guy around, but he has that special something that puts him in the guys that seems great to be with, not just to sleep with category. And I haven't seen half nelson, but it looks like he fills his pants quite well!

Great slap. Yet I wonder, am I'm the only person who watched THE UNITED STATES OF LELAND? An outstanding independent film with him as the title character. Supporting roles were played by Don Cheadle, Kevin Spacey, Chris Klein and a few other "relatively unknowns"(!) If your a Gosling fan, check this movie out. I think it's his best movie yet. Yeah he was hot in Murder By Numbers, The Notebook and Half Nelson but he was good, damn good, in THE UNITED STATES OF LELAND!
