It's not that I think stupidity should be punishable by death. I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem take care of itself.

Going back to baseball for one more Slap, Craig's second choice was Javy Lopez. I have to admit that one of the reasons that I chose Javy was because I had first base line seats at a Braves game once, and Javy came out to warm up. I nearly wet myself. He is just so spectacular.
Those arms! Sweet fancy Moses, those arms!! And when he was crouched down while warming up? God, I nearly fainted right there on the spot.
Anyway, it looks like he's been all over the majors - I noticed a pic of him in an Orioles uniform, in addition to the Braves and the Red Sox. Now if only he'd take more pictures with his shirt off - there's one good one after the jump, but only the one.
As a Bostonian and Sox fan (of course) I was THRILLED when Javy joined the Sox cuz he is SOOOO damn hot. Unfortunately his performance SUCKED and he is now gone :( That shirtless pic is awesome!

I'm likin this baseball theme, I may have to start going to games more often.
Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert, thinks your fear of electronic voting machines is misplaced:
I think about the history of ATMs when I hear all the nervous Nellies wetting their pants over electronic voting machines. I believe those worries are totally misplaced. Now don’t get me wrong – there’s a 100% chance that the voting machines will get hacked and all future elections will be rigged. But that doesn’t mean we’ll get a worse government. It probably means that the choice of the next American president will be taken out of the hands of deep-pocket, autofellating, corporate shitbags and put it into the hands of some teenager in Finland. How is that not an improvement?
Things should run a bit faster because of the new servers around these parts. Plus, I've spent some time this morning optimizing the site's database access - that, based on my early tests, is helping a lot.
Right now, unfortunately, the "Email Me" link on the left won't work because I don't have enough time to fix it this morning. So, if you've got something you just HAVE to get off your chest, use this link: mail.
This will do two things - let you send e-mail to me today. And it will also let me determine how quickly the spammers are harvesting e-mail addresses these days... I'll let you know.

Yeah, to die for. Yeah, the one on the left. But I can't help thinking, experience being the great leveler of fantasy, that no matter how good he looks here, someone, somewhere, is tired of putting up with his shit. I'm just sayin'.
By popular acclamation, today's Slap is baseball football player Jason Sehorn. Nyles suggested Jason, and Kim commented correctly that Jason was a football player - for the New York Giants for nine seasons, then for the St. Louis Rams. And Cris gets credit for suggesting Jason back in January - yes, it's been since January. Sorry Cris! (For the rest of you who are waiting for your suggestions to appear, look how long Cris had to wait - I'll get to them! )
Jason started his career in Sacramento (I think) at Mt. Shasta High School, going on to Shasta College. He was then offered a scholarship to play for USC.
Anyway, these days, Jason seems to spend his time looking pretty.
As an aside, I have to send my condolences today to BoiFromTroy. His Trojans lost to Oregon State today, opening the way for West Virginia to move up. Go Mountaineers!!
I was watching Elizabeth I the other night when a vision - in armor (or something...) - came into the scene. He had his shirt opened just so. And the perfectly adorkable shaggy, slightly curly hair.
"Who? Who?" I shouted to Buster, "is that vision in armor (or something)?" Buster had no comment, so I was driven to IMDB to seek my answer. Hugh Dancy was the answer I was seeking.
Hugh is a British actor that's been in any number of productions, including playing David Copperfield in the TV Movie of the same name; he was also in Basic Instinct 2 with Sharon Stone. Hmmm...
Craig wrote (anonymously) in a comment the other day that I really should get some baseball players on here. Well, when I challenged him for some suggestions, he was kind enough to come out of the closet () and tell me his name and give me some ideas.
The first player on his list is today's victim, Red Sox player ("Red Sock" ?) Gabe Kapler.
I gotta admit, Gabe's got too many muscles for me. I like muscle tone, but when they get too big it's just a distraction. But I can certainly see the appeal. I usually follow baseball (at least in the post season), but this year I just haven't paid any attention at all. Well - almost none. I know the Cards are playing the Tigers in the World Series. (They are, right?) But I don't know how the Red Sox did, and I certainly don't know if Gabe was a standout or not. He looks like he could hit a homerun with his bicep alone to me...
In my defense, I didn't mean to be all 'anonymous', and coy. I just forgot to put in my name. Anyway, Gabe certainly isn't a standout on the team, but he is BELOVED by Boston fans. He pulled his Achilles at the end of last (2005) season, and was out half of this year, when he came back Fenway gave him a standing-O. He got a little choked up - it was very cool. He's also a really good guy; he has a foundation to help stop domestic violence as his wife Lisa was abused by an earlier boyfriend. Yes he's a little big here as these were his fitness model days but he's more 'normal', well as far as you can be for a professional athlete. Anyway, he's my favorite! Hope you enjoy the rest!

Jason Sehorn WAS a football player, not a baseball player.
I've been wanting dying to Slap this guy for quite some time. I saw him on SkySexMile High starting some time last year, but I've never been able to find any screen caps or any other pictures, for that matter.
Anyway, yesterday I picked up a Slingbox for our house. I bought it for the primary purpose of letting my husband watch his football games (god, save me!) when we're in Aspen. We don't have a satellite dish in Aspen, so it's been hard on him. He watched his first game last night, and I'm pleased to report it was a success.
Then, this morning, as I scrolled through my list of saved programs, I found Mile High. It's one of my favorite BBC programs because it always shows lots of skin, and Luke Roberts has been featured a lot in the past few weeks. As I was watching - and tinkering with my Slingbox - I realized that I could do the screen caps myself! D'oh! I'd been considering buying some sort of TV tuner/video card for my laptop, but I'd never gotten around to it. Now I don't have to...
So anyway, Luke Roberts is the target today. He plays Captain Dan Peterson, who is quite the womanizer (and a male escort? I think? Does anyone know?). He's been after Lehann for several episodes, and they've been all over the beach, in the pool - here, there everywhere. I'm hoping they'll feel the need to take a shower soon...
Oh, and. I'm sorry for the low quality of the screen captures. But it's my first time - yes, I was a screen capping virgin. Next time I'll try to do better...
For today's Slap, we reach back into the archives. Bruce wrote to suggest Sal Mineo when I was doing the "retro Slaps". Sal is, of course, best known for his role in Rebel without a Cause with James Dean (who also needs a Slap).
I really can't tell you anything else about Sal, except that his bio shows that he also died far too young like his rebel co-star James Dean. In this case, Sal was murdered - which is just terribly creepy.
I can't tell you anything else about Sal - I looked through his list of credits and haven't seen anything other than Rebel, which I'd kinda like to see again. Any Sal fans have any recommendations?
"Cheyenne Autum" is an exceptional film, as is "Exodus". I'd pick "Cheyenne Autum" over any others, though.

Mineo was pretty well-known for being gay at a time when ALL of Hollywood was closeted. He was brutally murdered (stabbed to death?) in the late 70's, in what was probably a late-night mugging (although the police tried to make it gay-related). He was rumored to have been VERY well-endowed, although I've never seen any photos.....wonder if there were any?

Sal Mineo was murdered by a trick, as I recall, in the garage of his West Hollywood apartment building. Hard to believe that was in February 1976. I remember....
Tons of movie and guest appearance credits are at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000543/ including "The Gene Krupa Story," in which he played the famous drummer. Krupa had many years to live when the feature was released in 1959, and I believe it was an authorized account of his drug and prison experiences. Sal was featured on the album cover for the Krupa soundrack (Verve) and recorded a solo album for Epic. There may even have been a modest hit single in the late 50s.

Pics!
My husband took some pics of the mountains this morning and I thought I'd share, since he was nice enough to e-mail them to me all ready to go!
Well, speculation is swirling today about his boyfriend. Specifically, is he dating Luke MacFarlane? If so, I think that's fantastic - frankly they're two lucky guys!
I guess we can expect such speculation to continue until he tells us who he is, in fact, dating.
Luke had a nice man-on-man kiss last night on Brothers & Sisters... he is such a cutie!

2011-05-09 21:51
While I agree that Luke is a hottie, I think it's unfortunate that we're quick to pronounce that he and T.R. are dating just because they've been seen in public together. Even celebs have friends, you know! It's a lot easier to make friends with the people you work with because you see them all the time. Luke could also be gay, but not dating T.R. I've had many gay male friends that I've neither dated nor slept with. So maybe they are, maybe they aren't - does it really matter? At least T.R. came out with a quiet dignity, unlike Lance Bass's publicity stunt, that garnered him a totally undeserved HRC award. And Lance is dating Reichen, who, frankly, creeps me out. (In an attic somewhere, there's a painting of Reichen that's growing fouler by the minute!)

I'm so confused, is the guy in the pic with T.R. (on the pic right) the guy who plays the gay brother on Brothers and Sisters? The guy next to TR (Luke MacFarlane) plays the potential BF of the gay brother on Brothers and Sisters.
The gay brother is played by Matthew Rhys.
I don't think there's a Jake on that show? I think the hot long haired guy is named Joe (Sarah's husband)....The very VERY hot baby brother, Justin, is played by Dave Annable. ***drool***
Russ wrote to suggest a mega-Slap (giga-Slap?). He thought that Slapping Cosmo's candidates for Bachelor of the Year was a good idea. I have to say I agree. Unfortunately, it's too late to cast a vote - but that doesn't mean you can't do some drooling.

Dreamcaps had some new pics of former Slap Matt Lanter today that I thought I'd include in his set.
They're taken from the new James Woods series Shark about - you guessed it - a lawyer. I've heard absolutely nothing about it - anyone care to comment?
Oh. And about Matt. Is he looking better these days? He always looked a little chubby (christ, I can't believe I said that), but I think he's been working out...
Today's Slap goes to actor T.R. Knight, who plays Dr. George O'Malley on Grey's Anatomy. He came out this past week in People, saying:
I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there. While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me.
I have to admit his character isn't my favorite on the show, but I'm glad to see an actor in his position coming out - he's a star on one of the most popular shows on television, and still had the courage to tell the world. I just hope he doesn't end up in a tragic elevator accident or anything...
Personally I think you should slap the shit out of him!! I think he's one of the hottest looking guys - however I do prefer him with longer hair!

Hey, I think he's a nice guy on the show and if he wants to come out too, let's all support him. I don't think it should matter one way or another. I wish him continued success!
Thom wrote a while back to request Passions star Adrian Bellani. And I was negligent and didn't get him in, so Thom was kind enough to request him again - and I'm glad he did! Somehow I had forgotten how hot he was - I really should put some sort of rating on my list of future Slaps, so I can pick out the good ones quickly. But I'm not sure how much good that would do, because very few of the suggestions I get are bad - I would probably end up with a bunch of high ratings and be back in the same boat. So the lesson here is, if you've got a really good one that you suggested and I overlooked, send him again!
Anyway, on to Adrian. As I mentioned above, he's on Passions - playing Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald. I presume he's a regular, because SoapHunks has so many pics, but IMDB doesn't list a lot of episodes. And unfortunately, that's all for Adrian - I don't see anything else. Is there anything else? It would be great to see him in something other than a soap...

Okay, eons ago I suggested Ricky Martin (who was already stunning years ago and has, impossibly, gotten much more so) and I don't think you've done him. Also Paul Logan (paullogan.net), actor Drew Fuller (drewfullerfan.com if memory serves - he was on Charmed for a couple of seasons), Belgian cycling champion Tom Boonen. All very different types, and all very attractive. (And talking of Belgian athletes, I think tennis player Olivier Rochus is adorable, but that one may be just me....)

The Queen
QueerBeacon has a review of the recently released The Queen. I've spoken to a few others who've also seen it and heard nothing but good. I just hope it stays in Denver long enough for me to get back and see it...
I saw it last night when it opened in Seattle-and it is DEFINITELY worth the time (though at times a bit overly-sympathetic to the Queen, IMHO). For those of us who vividly remember that terrible week when Diana died, it's a keen look at how out of touch the Royal Family was. And Helen Mirren is absolutely superb (as always)-you have to catch it if for no other reason than to enjoy her performance!
Bill wrote a while back to suggest today's Slap, Canadian actor David Alpay. He was kind enough to send along some pictures of David from his movie Ararat. And without Bill's pics, I would have had a tough time Slapping this guy - there just aren't a lot of pics out there. Thanks, Bill!
He's in an upcoming movie called Closing the Ring that sounds pretty interesting.
There are much better looking Canadians to slap.........

I only find him attractive in a, "Last call - the bar is closing," kinda way. Canadian, eh? And here I thought only Brits came in that shade of pasty white.
You may remember Matt Cohen who I Slapped quite some time ago. Well, Fred wrote in recently asking to have him Slapped again. In my effort to reduce re-Slaps, I had kinda shied away from that, but I saw some new pics of Matt today on Dreamcaps and decided that a Slapdate was certainly in order. This guy is just stunning, no?
Thom wrote that I really couldn't let the Queer as Folk series go until I'd Slapped Matt Battaglia. I honestly don't remember this guy - he must have played in the last season or so? I just couldn't take it at that point.
Anyway, when I found out that he was the closeted pro football player that dated Emmett, I realized that I'd never Slapped Emmett either. And there are a couple of full-frontal shots of Peter Paige out there that look pretty damn good. So look for him soon.
But today we're on Matt. He seems to have been in one of almost every TV show you've ever seen. Which is too bad - it would be nice to see more of him. Perhaps I'll have to rent QAF season 5.
Matt Bataglia was in more than a few episodes, he was Emmett's "the One" in a eight or nine episode story arc in which he first has a hidden affair with Emmitt one season and then the next season "comes out" while still playing NFL Quarterback. Lot of good bedroom scenes and kissy face with Peter Paige. Pretty brave for supporting player in Hollywood who is 41, looks so good and has never been married.

Chris is correct, Matt is not in Universal Soldier - the Return. Matt is in Universal Soldier 2 and Universal Soldier 3, apparently made to keep the concept going. I found both of these on a double feature DVD. It was apparently a Canadian production. The "second" movie also featured Matt's character's long lost, frozen brother from the original Universal Soldier and the Return, played by Jeff Wincott. Matt's charactor is the main feature in the "second" and "third". The bath tub scene in the pictures shows Matt emerging from a tub of ice, presumabably so he "does'nt over heat", From the look on the face of the female lead, shrinkage was not a problem...

In episode 10, season 4, Matt had some very hot scenes with Emmett. He is one of the best built, sexiest men in movies and on television. He also played a fireman boyfriend in Friends, and showed skin there, too. The QAF episode 10 is worth finding--totally hot.
A couple of weeks ago, when Josh Henderson made his first appearance as Edie's nephew on Desperate Housewives, I commented that I hoped he'd have to stay away from his mom for most of the season. Well, it looks like he still has a couple more weeks of hiding. And his appearance seems to have brought some of his older pictures out of the woodwork.

My guess is that he will end up with Bree's newly returned son Andrew before it is all said and done. Susan's Daughter will become the Grace Adler of Desparate Housewives, falling for the hot gay guy.
Thanks for sharing the picture, it is incredible. I particularly love the small dot in the left, just above the main rings...that's home friends. Just that sight alone should make us all work a bit harder to get along...right??

Scott Kleeb is a bull-rider, and the Democratic candidate for Nebraska's Third Congressional District. He might win, too - a September poll put him only 4 points behind the Republican, and the Omaha paper endorsed him.
I had no idea about the fuckability, though. Da-yum.

How awful!
This would be devastating for me, although I'm sure Muffy will approve:
David wrote to suggest today's Slap ages ago. So long ago, in fact, that it's lost in the mists of time. Nevertheless, I got in my time machine and plucked his fabulous idea from the brink of falling into some sort of Bent Blackhole.
So today it's Scott Bakula. Scott is best known, I suppose, for playing Dr. Sam Beckett in Quantum Leap. After QL he moved on to various guest roles in such shows as Murphy Brown.
And then he landed another sci-fi starring role in the Star Trek prequel Enterprise. I wanted to like Enterprise - I really did, because I'm such a Star Trek geek. But I thought Scott was all wrong for the role. I'd never really watched him in Quantum Leap, so I can't really speak to his acting in general, but there was just something terrible about Enterprise - and I think he was it. It's too bad, because the show had a seemingly good premise. And I dunno - it was on for 4 seasons, it must have had some success.
Anyway, here's Scott. I think he's a total hottie, but don't ask me to watch him on TV. He's much better in screen caps...
Oops, he wasn't in Time Tunnel - my mistake, sorry!

Ok,
1. Probably the best looking man ever. 2. Very nice in person. Kind and giving to fans. 3. His hair was long for the last project, not an upcoming one. (That would be "Shenandoah" on stage at Ford's Theatre) 4. Maybe two trees. First wife and current lady. 5. In excellent physical shape 6. Looks fabulous for a man of 52 with four children. 7. Probably the most underrated actor of our time. Perfect comedic timing, sings and dances beautifully. Always an excellent romantic lead.
Surfing Queerclick yesterday, I came across a hottie I'd never even heard of - how can nobody have requested this guy? He just moved into first place (oops - I forgot - second place) for Slap of the Month.
Honestly, I don't think I've seen any of his work. I guess I'm gonna have to put a couple of his movies on Netflix and see if there's any skin... It's gotta be out there, just check out the pics after the jump!
His future projects include a CBS mini-series called Comanche Moon. His role appears to be rather small, but it looks like there are a number of other hotties that it'll be important to catch.
Most of the wonderful pictures are from his role in the briefly appearing series "Veritas: The Quest" from 2003. It was a vaguely "Johnny Quest" like story with Ryan getting thrown out of private schools to be with his explorer father (who's shown with him in the martial arts shots). It was a shame the series was droped after a few episodes as it was fun and was displaying Ryan to great advantage. Fortunately, he remains to be admired in these pictures; the highlight of my day.

Today's random hotness
We haven't had random hotness in a while because of my completely fucked up schedule, but I'm finally home so I'm going to try to get back to normal.
Anyway, Squeaky wrote to ask that I Slap the unusually-named Bear Grylls:
Bear has apparently done some pretty unusual stuff - and is now working on some stuff for The Discovery Channel. He also did a UK series called "Stranded" where he's dropped into some nasty locations "with little more than the clothes on his back" (and a camera crew, presumably) and shows how to get out.
He also set the world record for "the highest ever open air dinner party". Um, OK.
I think he's well worth a Slap, but there are virtually no images of him that I can track down. Anyone aware of any?
Returning to the small theme of a few days ago, Randy Harrison is what I think will be the last Queer as Folk Slap. Randy was one of the actual gay actors on the show. I always liked him - and his character - and was amazed that he hung on Brian the way he did.
He always seemed to be a good actor to me, but he doesn't seem to have been working since the show ended, I can only assume it's because he's gay. I've heard of him being in various stage productions, including an "impressive" turn as the main character in Equus. Now that I'd like to see... Anyone know anything else?
Update:Celebrity Bulge Blog mentioned that he thinks that the actor playing Randy's role in the UK was cuter, and I realized that I should have linked to him - CharlieHunnam (and one more ). I have to say, I agree: Charlie is cuter.
The interviews he did for The Advocate a few years ago showed some irritation with all the fame and attention he was getting (I couldn't blame him). I'd imagine he's trying to lay low for a while and get some semblance of reality back.
BTW, Him and Hal Sparks were my two favs, as far as looks were concerned. Didn't care for "Justin" as a character though, always seemed shallow and self absorbed, much like brian IMHO.

I loved him as Justin, he and Brian were my favorite characters. There was a lot going on there under the surface, they definitely weren't shallow and self-absorbed characters. And yes, very very hot together! Randy has been doing a lot of theater work, has not disappeared off the scene at all. He did Amadeus recently, his fans flew in from all over the country and world to see him. He was actually very gracious and charming to all.

2011-05-09 21:51
I've seen Randy on stage 4 times and he's absolutely amazing. He was great on QAF, but you can tell he belongs on stage. He's been training for theatre since he was real young and you can tell. It definitely shows in his peformances.
I've also met him several times and he's incredibly nice to his fans. The day I saw him he said he was in a hurry, yet he stopped to take a pic with my friend and sign my playbill. He's shy and seems down to earth and has excellent manners.
I know he's in a play for 1 night only this coming Sat night. And I heard rumors that he has an off-Broadway play in the works for this winter.
So he's definitely continuing to work after QAF.

not true, not true, not true. He has been doing theatre and studying extensively with the acclaimed SITI in New York City (Saratoga International Thatre Institute) and was picked by their artistic director Anne Bogart to appear with the SITI theatre group in an acclaimed production of Midsummer Night's Dream this year (he played 3 roles) followed by his second appearance with the famed Berkshire Theatre Festival as Mozart in Amadeus which earned him rave reviews in Variety and the Boston Globe, among other publcations. Oh, and...
Today is the last day of my trip! FINALLY! I usually have more free time on my trips, but this one just hasn't worked out that way. Plus I've been going through a Dean Koontz book that has finally kicked in and won't let go.
But regular posting and stuff should be back tomorrow!
Yes, you knew it was coming. Today, 1 week late, Jamie Bamber gets Slapped again. I know I've Slapped him before, but he's just too hot not to have another go.
Right now I can't think of anything to write, because I have the image of him in the makeup chair getting his prosthetic makeup applied - it's a video on the BSG blog that you should check out. It's called "Jamie & The Fat Man". He looks quite nice in his tanktop in the makeup chair, and his accent is oh so sexy. He said that by the 4th episode this season that Lee "will have worked out where the gym is on the Pegasus". Hopefully they'll return him to his skin-showing ways (see evidence after the jump) shortly thereafter.
The other piece of good news, besides this lovely collection of Jamie Bamber photos, is that your Web site is loading really fast again now. Congrats!

What happened to him this season? His jaw line looks swollen and his face is somewhat puffy. Has he had plastic surgery or he ungracefully growing older?
He looks somewhat bloated this new season.

He's wearing prosthetic makeup this season, its part of a story line about him feeling guilty about leaving everyone on new caprica and then letting himself go. Don't worry, he's gonna go back to his original perfection after a few episodes, its just makeup!
Brandon Humphries

2011-05-09 21:51
He looks bloated because he is wearing a fat suit for the role. He is supposedly only wearing it for a limited time, which leads me to believe the show will make another time jump.

People looking for more Jamie on screen and not just in photos (besides these, I also recommend his layout in Out magazine this past summer), he plays Foley (minor part) in the excellent Band of Brothers miniseries (which gay men might also enjoy for redhead Damian Lewis) and Archie Kennedy (medium-sized role) in Horatio Hornblower is a pretty fun and sublty queer period piece miniseries he's been in, as well. (Band of Brothers is HBO, and Horatio Hornblower is A&E.)

Jamie has been prosthetically "enhanced" this season with a fat suit and junk stuck into his face to make his body supposedly reflect his character's (Capt Apollo) lackadaisical attitude towards continuing the War of the Cylons. A stupid decision on the part of the powers-that-be at Battleship Galactica, IMHO.

Really loving man, I'd ready to hug and kiss him if I'd the opportunity, BBBBB
Starting a brief set of Battlestar Galactica Slaps, today's victim is Tahmoh Penikett. Tahmoh plays "Helo", and has been in a number of other things. Rumor has it he looked really good in the season opener, in contrast to Jamie Bamber's prosthetically "enhanced" physique.
Sorry for the brief rundown here, but I'm typing this article in a car in Ft. Lauderdale and the driver is a bit of a nut. I really don't relish the idea of eating this laptop as the air bag explodes. In other news, this is my first post from a moving car, using the Sprint EvDO card. SWEET!
Sex. On. Legs. And no photos do the justice to his total sexiness evident when you meet him in person.

New e-mail
I put some finishing touches on the changes to the e-mail server today. So since the system e-mails me all of your comments, etc., please keep an eye out for any funny behavior.
And if you need to e-mail me and the e-mail form doesn't work (that could be affected too), send me a message at "bent2" at this domain name.
We interrupt your regularly scheduled Slapping to bring you this special announcement.
I am VERY disappointed to have to confess that I missed the first episode of Battlestar Galactica this season. It aired during the first couple days of my trip, and I simply coundn't catch it. To add insult to injury, I realized belatedly that I hadn't set my DVR to record it.
One of the reasons that I didn't reschedule my trip was that I assumed I'd be able to buy the episode on iTunes and catch it on the road. Imagine my surprise horror when I discovered that iTunes didn't have it available! You have got to be kidding me! So, as you might imagine, I've been scouring SciFi.com looking for ways to watch Jamie, but while they purport to offer it, I couldn't make it work -- it didn't seem to be related to my machine, but something wrong with the site. (I would have erased the whole computer if I thought it would help...)
So imagine my very pleasant surprise this morning when I discovered that iTunes now has Season 3 available!!! So if you, like me, have been waiting - and hundreds of people on iTunes have - wait no longer. Go. Order now.
Oh and while we're at it, Cris was kind enough to point me to Jamie's page on Mostbeautifulman.com that I hadn't seen yet. Nice:
Oh, and it's Juice's fault that I didn't Slap Jamie during BSG premiere week last week. So blame him. But I still have to do a Slap today (this isn't an official Slap), so it may just be Jamie...
Ah, sigh, Jamie. How I love you. Note! In the start of Season 3, the ripped, muscular, V-shaped, and lightly hairy Mr. Bamber is wearing prosthetics. And, frankly, I'd still do him.
Thank God for iTunes. :-)
ubu
|
2011-05-09 21:51
All i have to say is that those prosthetics are really convincing, I couldn't tell whether he really put on weight for the show or if they are really good makeup artists. It was kind of weird though, cuz with the prosthetics he kinda looks like my slovenly uncle ron. I agree, I'd still totally do him though (not that i have a secret or incestuous attraction to my uncle, oy a freudian would have a field day with this post).
Today's Slap continues the QAF theme with Robert Gant. As far as I can tell - and my records on this matter are admittedly spotty - Stuart is the only person who requested Robert by name. If you were one who asked for him and I missed you, by all means let me know, I want to give credit where it's due!
Anyway, Robert played Professor Ben Bruckner-Novotny (I guess he married Michael??), Michael's (Hal Sparks) boyfriend. He was on the show for a number of seasons if I remember correctly, but apparently I missed the wedding. Oh well. I have to say that I think Robert and Gale Harold were the two hottest guys on the show. Sunshine was wicked cute, of course, but he's totally twinktastic and doesn't (in my mind) qualify as "hot".
Update: What the fuck is wrong with me? Yes, as far as I know Robert Gant is gay and out. In fact, wasn't he dating Kyan Douglas for a while? I remember reading at least one gossip item about them. (And speaking of someone who needs a Slap, Kyan is one of them.)
Update 2: Ian was kind enough to write in with this tidbit:
In addition to looking great, he's also an Ivy League grad. He was known as Bobby at Penn and was definitely one of the hottest fratboys on campus.
He's a little too "perfect" for me. Seems like he'd be the kind of guy that will age really really well.

ISP
OK, it's now to the point that I can't respond to ANY e-mail at all. The Spamhaus block seems to have locked me up tight. I'm in the midst of moving to a new server, but I'm not sure when that will be finished.
So for right now, e-mail is dead in the water -- I promise I'm not ignoring you.
And I don't know how quickly I'll be able to respond to everyone when I'm back online, but I'll try.
And, just to follow up on a couple of the comments regarding Spamhaus and its tactics, they strike me as decidedly thuggish, but I have to admit that I have a hard time condemning them too harshly. If ISPs tolerate spam, I can't really disagree with the idea of blacklisting them altogether. It will certainly ratchet up the pressure on them, if nothing else.
As for whether my ISP was caught in too broad a net, I can't say. They had good customer service for a while, but it has really fallen off lately - so perhaps they have just become unwilling to deal with spam also.
Regardless, I hope to be back by Wednesday.
In the meantime, keep sending the e-mails - just don't expect a prompt response...
Today's Slap is another Queer as Folk hottie, Gale Harold. After I posted Hal Sparks, someone wrote to suggest a QAF theme (especially Robert Gant, if I remember correctly) - and Thom and MC wrote to suggest Gale Harold. So I was desperate to get something out this morning, and Thom's e-mail arrived at the perfect time; I know I have like 1,000 other suggestions that I need to get out, but this morning I just had to have something quick.
I think Gale is a great choice, becuase it does play nicely into a QAF theme. And he's hot. I can't believe how hot sometimes. And lately, of course, he's been showing up on the new series Vanished. I haven't seen it yet. Is it good?
So anyway, as I've said I'm traveling right now, but I'm in one spot for the next few days, so the Slaps should be back on track. I'm going to try to get a couple posted in advance to give myself a cushion. I missed a couple of days being in rural WV, but I'm good to go now...
I didnt like what I saw of the series, and Gale's character has been killed off. But Gale is so hot.. thank you

2011-05-09 21:51
I've always missed the boat on Gale. And I always thought he was terribly miscast as Brian on QAF -- I never understood why everyone was always so concerned and hot for such an arrogant, two-dimensional meanie.
Frank
|
2011-05-09 21:51
Millions would disagree, Frank, and I think "missed the boat" is exactly right. "Nuanced" is the word most often associated with Gale's acting and Brian Kinney is anything but two-dimensional. His arrogrance is only one aspect of a multi-dimensional character Gale did a superb job portraying. In fact, most people believe Gale can get more expression in his (beautiful hazel) eyes than ten actors can get in their whole body. Gale is doing a play in NYC with Blythe Danner starting October 20th and fans are coming from all over the world to see him. That's how much they think of his acting and the phenomenal job he did in portraying Brian Kinney! And Brian? He lives on in literally thousands of fan fiction stories told 'round the world!

I never was very into him. He was plastered on screen during QAF as some kind of symbol of perfection, but I always got hung up on his slight double chin. He's not bad looking, and I would hardly kick him out of my bed, but he's not my fav.
As for acting, I guess i missed the boat on him too. I remember reading how all the fags loved what a nuanced actor he was, but his portrayal always felt like a facade to me, and I don't think i should have felt that if he were a good enough actor. 90 percent of the show was just him having this mildly annoyed look on his face. Supposedly Brian was a multi-dimensional character, but multi-dimensional characters in my book have more expressive moments than just looking in the camera with your eyes cocked a certain way, and they have interests and thoughts that do not center only center around a superficial life of luxury and sex (and don't give me that crap about Justin melting his supposed frozen heart). I found peter page to be a much better actor.
Brandon Humphries
|

Gale's performance in QAF was outstanding. He says more with one look than most actors do with an hour's worth of dialog. As for the Brian character, Gale played him perfectly.

My ISP
OK, my ISP is a complete PIECE OF SHIT. Their latest transgression? The entire network (me included) has now been put on the Spamhaus black list. So while I'll still be able to receive all of your e-mails, I may or may not be able to respond to you.
So in addition to moving to new servers, I'll be moving to a new ISP. And god knows if their service will even be available between now and then. It's working right now, but it's been VERY flaky (I'm sure you've noticed) of late. I hope it can hang on for another week while I'm out of town.
And for right now, I'm not linking to my ISP that is the piece of shit - they seem just sleazy enough to turn me off for that. So once I've moved I'll tell you who they are so you can avoid them if the issue comes up.
Rob, don't blame your ISP. In my opinion Spamhaus are a load of bullies. They blacklist entire IP ranges, subjecting innocent people to blocks. They consider it 'collateral damage'. They refuse to speak to people they blacklist, only ISPs, and make it impossible to contact them. For more information see here, like how they blacklisted the entire of Yahoo! Stores once: http://www.paulgraham.com/spamhausblacklist.html

Actually I totally support Spamhaus's approach, despite the effect it has had on you. The reason why IP ranges get blacklisted is because ISPs tolerate spammers on their networks (in fact, they profit from them). The only way to cut into the profitability of "tolerating" (i.e. encouraging) spam operations and the illegal/underworld activities that underly them is to blacklist the whole ISP. While I can understand frustration with Spamhaus, really anger should be directed at your ISP for being a crappy ISP in the first place and for tolerating/promoting/encouraging spamming/organized crime in the second place. That's why it's best to use ISPs that actively discourage and resolve spamming issues on their networks, so I applaud your much-overdue move to a new and better ISP. Meanwhile, I'm still glad Spamhaus keeps spam out of my inbox.

telefine, fine if the ISP is a repeat offender but Spamhaus block first ask questions later. And, as I said, they will not discuss matters. They listed me as belonging to a company which I didn't. Furthermore they say to have abuse@ postmaster@ addresses but don't have any themselves and provide a non-working email on their site. They have one rule for them and one for others. Good job that you're protected by Spamhaus, but how many proper emails have you lost? I use Spamcop, I think they're more professional.

Well, maybe I shouldn't universalize my experience, but I've had 100% brilliant success with Spamhaus, hardly any false positives, etc. By contrast, the seedy and criminal spamming underworld has been disturbing. I think a lot of people don't fully grasp the depth of criminality and depravty of the world of spammers, so services like Spamhaus (and Spamcop!) are vital, but I hold negligent ISPs mostly responsible for spam and its related problems, like being black-listed.
Thom wrote a couple of weeks ago to recommend today's Slap, Hal Sparks. Hal has been one of my favorites since way back in his Talk Soup days. He was also in Dude, Where's My Car as Zoltan, the cult leader. At least I think that's who he was - honestly I was much more focused on Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott.
But we're here to talk about Hal. And everyone knows that his most important role was as Michael in Queer as Folk. Although I thought he whined WAY too much, his character was generally OK. It was Emmett and Ted that were the really dreadful ones. Of course, the second to last season was just WAAAAAAY too formulaic and predictable for me - I couldn't stand it any more. I didn't even try to watch the last season; I suppose I should have, but what are you gonna do?
So anyway, Hal Sparks. I wish I had a few more good pics, but there's definitely some nice skin after the jump. Enjoy!
I got to meet Hal when the company I worked for in Minneapolis sponsored a QAF signing for Season One DVD at the Mall Of America. He was really nice, but more importantly, even hotter in person .

On QAF, I could never stand to watch a scene where this guy would eat.
He couldn't hold a utensil like an adult to save his life.
I have thus far completely avoided the Mark Foley mess. And I had intended to keep it that way, but this statement, reported on Gay News Blog caught my eye and I couldn't let it pass:
Homosexuals reproduce sexually by molesting children.
That leaves me speechless. Others in the bigot brigade haven't said such things in so many words, but the purposeful conflation of pedophilia and homosexuality by any number of pundits and lawmakers on the right are designed to imply such without actually saying it.
I agree that is totally offensive and bullshit and if the people responsible for that line were dead I would totally dance on their graves.
Frankly though, I am having so much fun watching the republicans eat each other, I am not too concerned with the finger pointing and scapegoating they are trying to do right now. These statements really reflect their desperation. There have been several salvo's like this lobed at us queers over the last few days, but they arn't sticking. They even tried to paint this as a "democratic conspiracy" but ABC news issued a statement that basically said "Uhhhh no, we got the info from a fucking republican!"
All this doesn't change the fact they tried to cover up a known child predator. It kinda makes flagrant, untrue, and unsupported accusations targeted at the Queer community pale by comparison. Even if gays do breed by child rape (humor me ok?) it doesn't change the fact they tried to cover it up! I guess my point is the republicans are just royally fucked, and not the kind of fucked we all look forward to.
A side note, as a person who takes guilty pleasure in politics, I just find this whole scandal deliciously decadent, sort of like a fine caviar (rare, expensive, decadent, and not very good for you).

I live in Florida and this entire Mark Foley thing is very disappointing - mostly because we finally had a gay Republican politician (something most people south of Jupiter already knew) and he went and screwed it up. Foley is the one who is responsible for spreading misconceptions about gay men. As a Republican, it's not Fox news that's at fault here. It's our own who don't realize that their actions reflect on the gay community. And, trust me, being in the bastion of left-wing Democratic liberalism (Palm Beach County) there are plenty of lies being spread by Democrats who choose to exploit this and, by doing so, exploit the gay community, too.

Oh and the Democrats are so pure, right:
Democrat Talking Head and Clintonista Bob Beckel thinks that being gay in and of itself is worthy of suspicion.
Beckel was on Hannity and Colmes Monday night and said the “fact that Mark Foley was gay should have ‘raised questions’ about other emails.” And why is that, Bob?
Beckel also compared a gay man around boys as being akin to having notorious bank robber Willie Sutton hanging around banks. Nice one.
Cue the violent outrage from the Gay Left against one of their own? I doubt it. They just don’t do that sort of thing to one of their peeps.

Wait a minute Tom,
Are you trying to say that because a congressman screws up, it is OK for FOX news to intentinally publish misinformation. WTF As far as you are concerned, any time a Republican screws up, it is acceptable for FOX news to claim it was a democrat?
That is beginning to sound an awful lot like Newt Gingrich who is out there claimimng this is all a democratic plot to reveal this information just before elections. Like somehow Newt thinks democrats held a gun to Foley's head all these YEARS making him send these communications just so they could effect the 2006 mid term elections.
There is enough blame to go around here. Foley is to blame first and foremost. The leaders involved in the coverup up are also to blame. FOX and any other news organization who are distorting facts are to blame and pundits on either side of the aisle like Beckel and Buchanan are to blame for spouting off they gay = pedophile crap while citing no reputable study data for their assertion.
It seems to me the most recent cases of teenage boys being molested that I have seen in the media have all been perpetrated by female, heterosexual school teachers. Does that mean we should condemn all female heterosexual school teachers?

Go
You remember the recent Slap of Scott Wolf. Well, a commenter mentioned that he played gay in Go. I know former Slap Jay Mohr was in it too.
Regardless, QueerBeacon has the clip of Scott and Jay playing a gay couple. Augusto said he might put up a review soon, so stay tuned!
When I broached the topic of today's Slap with Juice, I mentioned that since Battlestar Galactica starts on Friday, I might Slap Jamie Bamber. The response? "What?! Again?! You just Slapped him last week!"
So obviously Juice isn't up to date on his Bent reading. But we can forgive him for that. Regardless, he suggested that I wait until Friday to Slap Jamie; I can deal with that.
So instead, today's Slap is courtesy of Russ. Eddie Cahill is currently playing Detective Don Flack in CSI: NY. Before CSI, he was probably best known as Rachel's assistant and short-time boyfriend in Friends. He's also done some work Off Broadway in The Altruists.
I fell for Eddie when he was on Friends. I was shocked by the horrible hairdo they gave him at the beginning of CSI:NY. Thank God, they fixed that!!! Now he is back to being the hunk I remember. YUMMMMMMMMMMY

That's not Eddie in the last picture. That's another of his teammates in the movie "Miracle". ^_^;;
I am pleased to announce the winner of the Slap of the Month for September. Mario Lopez, by virtue, I suppose, of his ass baring on Nip/Tuck barely squeaked it out over Izod model Ian Lawless.
I have to say, I'm kinda surprised Mario was able to beat out Ian - I mean, this crowd routinly votes the fur over the smooth. But what are you gonna do? And it's not like Mario wasn't deserving.
Interestingly, again this month every single contestant got at least one vote - including Robert Conrad who got one little vote.
So Mario goes in as the winner - and Ian gets an honorable mention. And since I'm staying at Juice's house tonight, he gets to declare his own honorable mention for September, and that goes to Will Young. Justin Chatwin was rejected for this honor because Juice said "he looks too much a like a girl to me".
And to clear up an outstanding detail, the Slap of the Month for August is officially declared a tie between Channing Tatum and Michael Fenton Panaro. There will be no boo-hooing about this decision, please.
Yay, Juice. I completely agree with you. Not that I mind Mario, or Ian for that matter...

I voted for Ian Lawless because he's just breathtaking. But, Mario is totally slapworthy. He gets hotter and hotter as time goes by. I saw him on Dancing with the Stars last night (he's the only reason to watch that show) and he was on fire! Those moves! I thought I might pass out. Mario Lopez is sexy as hell and he knows it and I love it!

Should have been no contest. Mario wins pants down.
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Drew looks rather dorky to me. I think I can speak for quite a few men when I say "bring back Ian Lawless, please". Ian is just beautiful...sigh...

Visibility?
I missed this by a couple of days, but I did want to mention it. HRC, this Saturday, is giving Lance Bass its "Visibility Award":
To borrow a phrase from Kip: This, of course, is utter nonsense.
Seriously, why? Yes, I know he's cute - and he's dating a hottie. And he was in a famous boy band. Blah blah blah. This makes no sense. He just came out - does that count as visibility these days? Sure, he did it in the media, but virtually everything he does is done in the media, and his boyfriend is a veritable media whore. There are hundreds of better choices for a visibility award. How about, for example, James Barrett?
In general I support the mission of HRC - but this just makes them look foolish.
Oh. And I got the scan of the announcement from Drew - thanks!!
Your example of James Barrett is not a really good one, seeing as I had no clue who he was. (And I think I am not alone here) I think that is the point of the Visibility award. Barrett may be visible in his area, and even among the gay community, but Lance is known by just about everyone. While he may not be the best choice, he is a better one than someone no one has heard of. Seriously, how many other gay men, no matter how long they have been out, have come out on the cover of People? Like it or not, he and Reichen are two of the most well-known and widely known gay men in today's pop culture.

I totally diagree with you labratt. Just because someone uses the media to promote themselves and has the ability and the visablity to do so, does not merit this award. I also did not know who Barrett was and wasvery happy to find out that he has done what he did. He needs the exposure that this award would furnish. Bring the deserving into the light and stop reinforcing the mediocre and talentless media whores of our generation. I am sick of them and the media that shoves them in my face.

This just goes to show how idiotic and out of touch HRC is. There the respectable fags every politician invites to dinner so they can say "Oh yeah, I just love the gays!" Giving an award to Lance Bass is like giving Paris Hilton an award for showing up at the opening of a letter. The only reason he is getting the attention he is getting is because he and his boyfriend are preety and white, not because either of them have actually accomplished anything that has truly improved anyone elses lives. He's preety and HRC has said "oooh, he will look great at all the gala's and print ad's". Lance said "i'm gay" after it was nice and safe to do so, and while there is nothing wrong with that in and of itself, it sure as hell does not deserve to be fawned over and issued awards. I am not really upset with lance as much as I am with the LGBTQ people and organizations that are doing this crap. There is more to our existence and struggles than pandering to demographics. We should be handing out awards to people who have done things tangible, not who just show up.

Yawn. The HRC Visibility Award is not really a pressing issue and I don't see why it merits attention even here. Not even for HRC. It's just a way for HRC to gain media coverage outside the GLBT community. Duh. Since we, the pink mafia, know what's going on, are should, standing and gawking at this silliness is a waste of time, please keep moving, nothing going on here.
I do agree that the HRC leaves a lot to be desired and has questionable effectiveness as an organization, however.

James who? I don't see how he can be visible when he's not known very well, and he was expelled (not the best encouragment to "hey, come out"). Lance is visible, as the name says. I think some of you forget that when you're young it's nice just to see someone a)famous b)popular c)gay like you. That's more important than banner-waving. It really helped me when I was younger to see a singer come out, and Lance's move will help young people too.

You folks who are unhappy with Lance & Reichen receiving the award are missing the point. This award is about visibility. IT IS ALL ABOUT MEDIA and marketing. We ABSOLUTELY need to publicly recognize and celebrate people who do meaningful things for the LGBT community, however it won't get a whit of airtime in most communities (particularly there in the US). With limited resources, you need to be strategic about where you are going to get the biggest bang for your buck. How much positive/neutral exposure would the LGBT community get for HRC giving the award to Barrett? Maybe a few NPR interviews for the kid. How many millions of people will find out about Bass/Lemkuhl getting the award via Entertainment Tonight, USA Today, People, US, etc., etc., etc., etc. And don't minimize the effect of Bass & Lemkuhl being out. They are high profile and have positive or neutral images. They're having a tremendous effect on young gay kids today, just as Bob Paris made me feel like I wasn't the only person in the world who was attracted to guys, but didn't want to wear a dress. Most gay kids don't look up to people like Barrett as role models. They do get wowed when Lance Bass is on TV, or the cover of a magazine as an out gay man.
Jim comes through again with today's Slap, actor Lucky Vanous.
Not as Brazilian as Jim's other suggestions, Lucky is just as hot. He has that perfect amount of fur - and what a body! He appears to be best known for his role on All My Children. Does that sound right? Other than that, he mostly seems to be going from one guest spot to another on popular shows like Will & Grace and Two and a Half Men.
He's 45 now and still yummy. Ex-US Army Ranger and Special Forces gets a special salute....Woof.

Lucky and the Diet Coke commericial. That's the moment I knew I was gay. I videotaped the damn commercial and played it over. And over. And over. Amazingly beautiful man. Still beautiful.
Today's Slap, Scott Wolf, is probably best known for his role as Bailey Salinger in Party of Five. He also played in The Evening Star, where several of the nice pics after the jump are from.
My favorite role for Scott, however, was as Chuck Gieg in White Squall. I couldn't find many pics from White Squall, but suffice it to say that there's LOTS of nice eye candy - from Scott Wolf and former Slap Ryan Phillippe to Jeff Bridges, who, I think, will be an upcoming Slap himself.
Lately, he's been hanging around in Everwood and he was in the series premiere of The Nine. I can't tell - and I didn't watch - if he's going to be a series regular in The Nine. Did anyone catch it?
Great SLAP! Don't forget, Scott also played Gay in the late 90's movie "GO" next to Jay Mohr.
